OK, halfway through preseason...who's goin' to the Super Bowl?

Yeah, I know it's too early, I was being sarcastic.

I've just noticed this morning on the Camp Reports for the various sports new sites that there have been many more changes going down across the league than I thought.

Aside from Vick in Philly and Buress looking at the possibility of a year long suspension IF he could actually find a team to sign his thick-headed self.

But who cares how the teams are doing in the pre-season. They are bogus games anyway with often times a 2nd team going up against a team full of starters. Like Philly get their 2nd and 3rd team players hammered by Brady and the starting line-up of the Pats.

So what changes did your team go through? Are they good changes or bad changes?

I haven't seen much of the 'boys yet 'cause of the shadowy pall Vick has cast over Philly sucking up all the news space but it seems Romo-gate is behind them. Mainly because the T.O. saga has been shifted off to Buffalo and Romo ditched Simpson (thank goodness!). Lotsa people are saying he looks more focused and dialed-in than the last two years.

I saw Felix Jones was back in action and if the videos on SI.com are any proof, he's doing well. Mike Jenkins and Terence Newman are already injured but Wade Phillips said that if it was a regular season game, both would have played. That may be promising if it isn't smoke and mirrors. Roy Williams is injured too and he's "day by day". Martellus Bennett is catching news everywhere but I'm not sure if it's more for his constantly running mouth than his playing. They snagged Igor Olshansky from the San Diego Chargers and with him as a DT and a known run stopper, they have a very formidable defensive line with Ratliff and Spears on the line with him and guys like DeMarcus Ware behind them. They seem a bit weak on special teams and down field on the defense though so we'll see what happens. But right now, it seems like a more cohesive team than last year and that seems to be a positive thing.

Brady's back, look to be some decent new faces on the team, like Endelman on the receiving core. As you say, looking forward to REAL games; this exhibition nonsense is just a waste of time from a fan perspective. It doesn't count, and tells you very little about your team.

The 'niners can't even sign their first round draft pick. He's a 10 slot holding out for 7 slot money. Not gonna happen.

What sucks most is that this wet-behind-the-ears rookie is letting his big head get in the way of his future. He should be thankful he got picked. The 'niners aren't going to the big game this year but they will be at the least a wild-card contender. Especially if this rookie got his head out of his butt.

Most people were expecting Crabtree to have a spectacular, explosive rookie year and touting him as a ROTY contender. But he's missed most of the pre-season where he should be learning his new team but would rather sit it out and get his money. Now he's talking about entering the draft next year and dropping San Fran like a bad habit. If he sits off for a whole year and thinks anyone is going to take him for a 10 slot or higher, he's nuts. He'd be a 3rd rounder and it'd be a "Well, there' nobody good left, I guess we're stuck with him." kind of deal. It's a shame to waste a good talent like that too.

He's gonna be another T.O. and unable to feed his family on $26 million + a year.

RAIDERS of course. I am thinking that maybe just maybe they can actually win some more games this year. I realize that this is just the preseason but they did actually look very good last week. They have a lot of young guys that are in their 2nd and 3rd years along with a few vets they picked up in the offseason, sooooooo hopefully Davis can just sit back and let the coaches and players do their job and it might be a good season.

ROFLMAO..... the only bowl the Raiders will be attending this year makes a flushing sound.:DBut thats ok as the Lions will be right there fighting for the coveted Bristle Brush trophy in this years Toilet Bowl. I hope I am wrong on this but I have won money for three years straight on calling the raiders season before it happened

To be fair, not that I'm sticking up for him, but the thread title is "Who's going to the Super Bowl?" so i can see where the confusion lies.

Then again, on the same note of reading before you respond, instead of just yelling out "Vikings!" like some Swede with Tourette's, he could have elaborated on why he thinks the Vikings are...well...anything.

bobman seems to have gotten it right. But Keiko...well, we won't go there. My grandmother always said you shouldn't make fun of people like that, you should pray for them.

I don't (VIKINGS!) have Tourettes, but in fairness to the reading before you post comment, the thread does ask WHO is going to the Super Bowl and does not ask for elaboration as to why...(VIKINGS!)

My Purple People Eaters have what is perhaps the best defense in football this season, and with weapons such as Adrian Peterson, Percy Harvin, Bernard Berrian, Chester Taylor, and Bobby Wade, they represent a potent offensive capability that I have not seen the Vikings have since the 1998 season, when they went 15-1.

The only reason for any doubt is at the QB position, which I have faith they will solve before the beginning of the year.(VIKINGS!)

Sorry for shouting VIKINGS so many times... perhaps it's Tourette's after all, or I am just excited about my teams chances...

Actually, the Lions are looking to be fielding a half decent team this year. I doubt they are going anywhere but I wouldn't be surprised to see a 6-10 or even an 8-8 season out of them. They cleaned alot of house and a good deal of the roster and most of the coaching staff is brand-spankin' new. They picked up a good deal of raw talent in the draft and right now the biggest thing it seems they have working against them is a lack of experience in both individual players and playing as a team. They have a good chance of getting better as the season progresses. If they can develop their talent that they have, they will be a team to watch next year. Hell, just because of last season they are a team to watch this year! Humiliation like that changes a team, even if 60% of the players are new. They don't want to end up like that again. It's a very strong driving force.

The preseason has brought some hope to the Lions. If the o-line and d-line can perform it will give the team a chance. they have nowhere to go but up. I will watch each game again this year and keep hoping that this time the changes got it right. This staff seems to have elevated teh professionalism at least.

Farve hasn't had the support from a killer defense and an offense with the weapons we have either. More important than him being a QB for he however, is his ability to be a mentor to Tavaris Jackson and Sage Rosenfeld. Just imagine how much better these two can get with a leader like Farve helping them along.

That's provided the other two get any field time. Given the age of granpa Favre, it's quite likely. However, they will build the offense around Favre and make the other two understudies and attempt to slot them in at a moments notice. It's not going to work. There are numerous examples throughout NFL history where this is shown to happen.

Favre should have just stayed retired. He's going to screw up the Vikings season.

A temporary wailing wall has been designated outside of lambeau field....
Farva will no doubt set the INT record so far out of reach, that no 2 quarterbacks could break it, by time he's done.:p

The 'queens sold their soul for Berrian, and therefore couldn't keep a perennial pro bowl center. Peterson will suffer because of it, as will the INT King. They also let their best member of the secondary get away. (Sharper) Their D-line can't afford to lose the two fatties in the middle for 4 games, either. That's the recipe for a Super Bowl if I've ever seen it.:p

    Go Bears.
