    IS TOO.

    Check the current thread.

    $2200 for Polkies.

Its toward the bottom of the thread.... Unfortunately. We can not edit our posts. Or I would change it in the original post... But there is a discount none the less. As always for Club Polk Members...

Ah so you were the one I asked the question about. Sorry--the tweeters looked odd from that angle; the SL3000's I've seen and heard have been black. Very nice speakers overall! It's tough to amp them properly.

Apparently, Bobsama was already taken. But since I am THE Bobsama, it works. But anyways--those are really nice speakers. Kick-**** if I do say so myself. Polk has never been the clearest or the most accurate, but I definitely find them balanced between accurate and fun (as well as affordable). My uncle has a pair of SRS's that he upgraded to 1.2TL's--VERY nice speakers those are.

Well for $2500 you would be hard pressed IMHO to find better speakers. and you cant expect them to be the "best" at that price Your uncle didnt know what he was talking about . You cant upgrade SRS's to 1.2tl's

sure you can. Just takes different tweeters, woofers, crossovers and cabinet (made out of different material and braced differently).

Other than that - they are exactly the same..... :p (I think you can reuse the passive radiator between the two - but I'm not sure on that either, it may be weighted differently)

The SL3000's all have a gold cast to them....

Nope. They came in a silver tone, a black tone or a gold tone. Due to the process required to make them, the color could not be controlled perfectly. Polk would sort thru them and color match a set for each pair of SDA's.

Lol. Yes I rememember telling another fellow that said the JBL-L80T and the JBL-L80T-3 were the same except for a few crossover changes the same thing. They had diiferent cabinents not even close to the same size, different tweeters even though they looked similar, different woofers and dramatically different crossovers yes there virtually identical other than these minor differences :p

As sold by Polk, 1.2TL Upgrade Kit. Two new crossovers, eight new SL3000 tweeters. So either yes he's gravely mistaken or no, you're gravely mistaken. I tend to side with him--Polk Audio Stereo Dimensional Array Signature Reference Series 1.2's (wow that's a mouthful!) purchased around 1990 had a Polk Audio Stereo Dimensional Array Signature Reference Series 1.2TL upgrade kit, which basically swapped out the eight SL2000 tweeters for eight SL3000 tweeters and changed the front-mounted crossover.

Hmmm. Interesting. Never knew Polk had an upgrade kit...

So I guess the only thing he would be missing is the added bracing in a real TL...

SDA SRS's and SDA SRS 1.2's are different speakers. I stand by my original statement that you cannot upgrade the SDA SRS to be 1.2TL's the cabinent design and structure itself is different not only the tweeters and crossovers.

I prefer to take a bit of liberty in tying fast. Going "1.2" every time is too easy to make a mistake and say 2.3 or something to that effect--which would identify the wrong speakers entirely and cause general havoc. Now in that aspect you're right--perhaps I should append "1.2" or (now) "1.2TL" whenever I talk about those speakers. But take security in the fact that I won't always say "Polk Stereo Dimensional Array Signature Reference Series 1.2 to 1.2TL" or include a billion adjectives about it, just to be specific with passing comments.
