Was making bad vibrating sounds, then I removed and switched power wires because I thought maybe I had them backwards, that didn't work. I let it go... then one day i smelled something burning. Then the speaker made a high pitched sound. So I switched the wires back around and then it worked for a few seconds then had a high pitched rumbling distortion.

Not very presice on type of speaker, it sounds like a car speaker to me. May have better luck in the car audio section a little farther down. Welcome to Club Polk.
