You know, I'm starting to see more and more of these "BIC's" lately. I would also like to hear opinions on this thing from owners of a Velodyne CHT-12 or Velodyne DLS-4000 so I know what it's being compared to. :D Btw nice sub you posted Polkie918, just wondering what youre aiming for really. I'm kind of looking for something to hit true 20hz or exceptionally close to without breaking the bank hard (for HT use).

Definitely an SVS, but it all depends how much you want to spend. Really though the best thing to do is just hold off on that "new sub" a little longer and save up some cash.

I recently switched from a Velodyne DLS 3750 to a Elemental Designs A2-300 for a huge improvement. My Velo is similar to yours in performance, it pretty much just rattles and has no output below 30 hertz. The A2-300 is truely in a different class and compares to the SVS PB 10. The bass is so much deeper and cleaner making the Velo that I thought was pretty decent seem like a toy.

There are a lot of good manufacturers of subs so shop around, anything you get that can do 20 Hz will be a huge gain. IMO the A2-300 at $350 shipped is as good a price/performance deal as you will find anywhere.
    HT Setup: Onkyo 706; Rotel RB-1075; Rti A3; Csi A6; Fxi3's

2 CH: Squeezebox Touch; Dared SL-2000a; GoldenEar Triton 5 or Lsi9's; Parasound 2125; SVS SB12-NSD; Music Hall DAC 25.2

Internet Direct subs are the best way to go....the downside is that it isn't easy (or cheap) to audition them all. Don't necessarily base your decision on spec sheets. Sound quality is more important.

Here's a good ranking list to reference when shopping for a sub:

It's unclear from the literature if that 450 watts isn't dynamic peak wattage..in which case this sub would compare, at least in specs, with Polks PSW505 (300 watts continuous) and my Boston A. 12" (300 watt digital/450 peak). Both weigh in at about the same. Mine is almost 46lbs.

    What's impressive is that PRICE!

Never listened to a BIC....I've heard the Polk and obviously my own B.A. and they're about as good as anything in the 4-500 dollar range. They're no SVS or higher end sub. But for the money--hard to beat! Velo 4000 is a good sub too.

Now, mind you, I'm not saying GREAT!!

    Ok,

That is a great price for the Sunfire....'used' that is? But probably OK used.

However, Sunfires are in the 1000+ dollar MSRP category new. And that's the next tier up.

Here is some info on the BIC F2:

    http://www.avsforum.com/avs-vb/showthread.php?t=1116093

    Some highlights from the comments...
Looks like 150W RMS. It's equivalent to the BIC-100. Someone says that the BIC-100 was discontinued because Kplisch sued about the copper colored driver. The F2 sounds similar to the BIC-100. There are some nice pics comparing the two.

If you are looking for new the Sunfire is out of your price range. Heck it is out of mine new. Ever other month or so I see one of these deals on eBay or craigs listings. I would have snatched it up but I had to buy a chain saw this month and used my extra $$$.

Two sunfires would be nice. I might have to think long and hard about snatching it up.
