What can I say? WOW! I am playing 2 Channel Stereo right now, I AM BLOWN AWAY! Whoever says the RTxxxI series does not need a seperate amp can kiss my ****$! This EFFIN ROCKS! These speakers just......OPENED up. I CANT BELIEVE MY EARS! NO COMPARISON! I have getting more volume out of two speakers, and better sound -- ITS AWESOME! I will report back later when I get it all setup. So far I am satisfied with the PE, LOOKS GREAT! WAY BETTER BASS RESPONSE than the yamaha had.

Speakers to match? I have Polks all around. You lost me one whatever you just said. If your saying amps - I am getting 2 more amps, however at the moment I dont see the point.

I think what Mantis is referencing to is not hooking Adcoms up to the "inferior" RTi series.

    Could be wrong though ;)

RTi's with the right power and components can freakin' sing!

I have never heard my Mains sound like this, before they sounded like they were in a box.

What do you all think of adding an amp to my R40's for two channel music? I am really having trouble getting into PL2 and other surround music. It find it a little annoying. It sounds good, but I guess I like my music to come in front of me. I don't like my music trying to tell me that the drumset is all around me. You know? Anyways, I really see myself getting into two channel for music in the future. Do you think an amp would do anything over my Onkyo 600 for my R40's, and if so, can you recommend a good amp?

Yeah, sorry MX. I know that was kind of lame of me. So, as not to disrespect, I posted something really similar in the two channel section, so if you feel the need to reply to my stuff, go there. Carry on with the original topic :)

    Heres the reveiw.

    Pioneer Elite --

Looks: AWESOME. The Black Piano Gloss finish is Top work. It is smooth looking, with a pull down door and kick arse BLUE LED above the volume control knob. Its really cool. I give it a 5 out of 5 for looks.

Build Quality: Awesome, solidly built, smooth movements on the pull down door. The face plate dosnt move at all. Everything is intact and works perfect and isnt wobbly (unlike the yamaha). I give it a 4 out of 5.

Remote: This remote is effin HUGE! I swear to god, you enlarge their website picture of it by two and you might get close to the size. It is very confusing to use too. Over all, this remote could be much better. The LED screen is cool though. I guess Ill give it a 2 out of 5.

Easy Use: This receiver isnt very easy to use, and not coming with a manual - I am trying to just figure it out. Its pretty complicated, since I can figure out most any electronic and this one sorda leaves me dumfounded. I will give it a 3.5 out of 5; since it is probally easier than I am making it!

Sound: The sound is very CLEAN, and open. It has a similar sound to the Adcom, just not as clean and not as open. Overall the amps built in can keep up with the adcom to the speakers exstent. Overall compared to the yamaha the PE is alive, the Yammer was in a box! The sound for 100 more is awesome in comparison! 4 out of 5!

    Adcom --

Looks: I like the looks of the unit, however I am not a flip switch power on/off fan. Other than that, the THD LEDS and such is a cool design and looks awesome. But for an amp, I dont think there is much you can do with amps and how they look. This one however looks pretty dang good. 4 out of 5.

Build Quality: The build quality of this unit is AWESOME. Nothing is loose and it isnt wobbly. It has real (thick type) metal all around, you can literally not press in on this amp. It is solidly built and weighs in at a good 25 pounds or so. 5 out of 5.

Sound: The sound, all I can say is......WOW! The sound is there, in your face. As mantis I believe (I think he meant it) That this amp would blow the dust caps off my woofers before it distorted. I had the speakers on Max and the THD LEDS werent even at yellow. It is a simply awesome amp! It opened my speakers up tremendously, it made them go from inside a box (needing a center to sound right) to being able to play alone and sound good. I am more tempted to upgrade to the LSI 7 now, just to push the amp to its max.

Overall: This setup was well worth the money, I do not regret spending the money. Well worth the upgrade in my opinion! The PE is a great buy for around 400-480. The Adcom....It is just the best bang for the buck I have seen. Lord it is AWESOME!

    MX,

Congrats on your new gear. Let me know if you want to check out those cables we talked about.

Nah thats ok F1, thanks anyway. I want to so bad but then I will probally want to go buy new wire...lol
I found something that mom likes about the new receiver. It somehow keeps the bass in my room (to an exstent). Which I find pretty dang cool!

Mx, what Adcom amp did you get? what more improvements did you notice over your old gear? So your current set up is Pioneer Elite receiver. adcom amp and RT38i fronts? is that right?

Elite Receiver, Adcom GFA-545II amp, and RT35i mains. The mains just OPENED up, and I noticed that they play louder than the other speakers too. I will never buy another yamaha receiver again. Total waste of money.

I will note that the PE weighs HALF of what the yamaha weighed. 15 pounds seems adaquate(sp). I couldnt believe the difference when I lifted the yamaha out of the shelf. Weight aside, the PE sounds way better. I have the radio hooked up to this receiver and man talk about BASS city!

This Pioneer Elite is a trip man. Anybody want to buy some fans? LOL! I swear, when the receiver hits a certain point it turns fans on! I am like...HOLY S***! When you turn it down, the fans turn off. This receiver is well worth the bottum $$. Now since I have it all setup it sounds even better. I am loving it, Yamaha who? what?
Damn you all, damn you all to hell.......
    I promised myself
No more speakers. None. Nada. And then you posted this!!!!

    Mx,

Glad to hear you are enjoying your PE. Good to see that you have fixed your bass problem too.

If you haven't done it yet, check out my 12 V trigger thread to auto turn on your amp when you turn the receiver on. Cost is 5 bucks at Rat Shack.
I noticed that they play louder than the other speakers too.

This is probably because you have a fixed gain input on the Adcom from your PE's preamp outs. If your Adcom has the variable gain input, you can adjust the input gain on the amp to match your other speakers.
