    Ted, I need to know what part of the meds doesn't work for me so I can tell the Doc better.

    I need to send you some tube based kool-aid, that ought to do it!!!!!

    Glad you are having fun.

    My plats have been standing silent recently, however, they sounded great at PF07 using a hi-end SS amp and tube pre combination, totally different speaker (polk lsi-9) but an ARC tubed pre with a Threshold monster mono came across as one wail of a music machine.

    I have time to listen to about 2-3 hours a week on the plats. But I still need to build some speaker and amps.

    On a side note, the ring radiator in the LSi25 came alive with ML335 powering them and they started singing like a ribbon. :eek:

    I have the Jolida preamp and love it.It has 3 seperate power supplies for the varoius gain stages,wima caps,2 12ax7's,2 12at7's,remote,but not balanced.It goes used for about 900.00, 1500.00 new.Also has an adjustable phono stage.Weighs 22 LBS.

    Congrats to you on acquiring the #380s. I am looking forward to your review and comparison with the #38. :D

    I will have to wait for a few months at least before I get another PRE. The wife will kill me if she finds out I am buying a lot of audio gears again. :D

    Thanks for the advise! Jolida is a very nice tube pre. I was having the problem with my Levinson amp for fine control of volume for the listening levels. My need is satisfied with ML#38 for now and I am looking forward to step up to another levinson pre in the future.

    I have quite a few pre from several brands (Luxman, Denon, Parasound, Proceed, Pioneer, Adcom, Carver, Threshold). All works well with the ML335 at high volume but not so well at low volume level. Since I bought the ML#38, all is well now.

    Hello Carlos, There is nothing you need to worry about using RTi10 with Levinson ML#333 amp and ML380s preamp.

    These speakers will not use all 300W from No#333 unless you are running the speakers at 100+db SPL.

    because sgr can build in if if needed

    now Joz is thinking of getting that behringer which is 499
    he is also propably wanting an amp maybe another behringer amp for around 400

    for the same price he can have a single SGR plate amp with the electronics.

    Dear Carlos,

    I think Polk RTi10/RTi12 is not the best speakers for ML380s plus ML333. I know Mark Levinson combo definitely makes RTi10/RTi12 sounds better but for the most possible sound, you should look for better speakers. I have RTi12 (the only RTi speakers I have) and all LSi speakers. LSi will sounds a lot smoother than RTi speakers with the Levinsons I have. I used my ML335, and ML380s with older Carver Amazing Platinum MKIV speakers. But I've changed my mind and making a few changes to my system also.

    If you like to upgrade, try to demo LSi speakers and other speakers from as Martin Logan, Sonus Faber, Vienna Acoustics, Magnepan, Paradigm, and Focal JM Labs.

    I have a Mark Levinson Pre=380S plus Power=ML333

    I have a oportunity to have one of two system that I have to choose:

    1. Buy a new CD player Esoteric X-01 D2 CD\SACD Player (or Cary 306 Professional CD\SACD player) and keep my Polk Audio Speaker RTi10.

    2. Buy a new Speaker (Thiel 3.7) and keep my source=Marantz DV7001

    Which do you think is more adequate for one SETUP?

    Welcome to the Club!

    Go for option number 2 get the Thiel 3.7 speakers, and pickup a nice Balanced
    Dac for your Marantz player.

    My source Marantz DV7001 has a (DAC) conversor D/A 24 bits/192Khz high quality for CD and DVD sounds (original) and also, to increase the quality for stereo sound, it was Modded.

    Indeed, I feel the sound great for stereo and fantastic for HT.

    I think you should try ML DAC and CD or SACD first. I have 36DAC and 37CDT with 380s and 335. I found most Levinson components match each other very well and they have the best possible synergy when used with other ML gears.

    I've also tried Esoteric SACD Player but it's not doing any better than 36 and 37 for redbook CDs. For SACD, I used a Pioneer DV-79AVi which I think is a fine player. I think your Marantz is also a good SACD player with a good DAC.
