    This is why it cracks me up when the objectivists state that everyone hears the same. They claim there is no such thing as what they refer to as 'golden ears', so there is no way one person could hear or perceive something that another person can't. This is, of course, "verified" by the inherently flawed double blind test.

    It's easy to understand why speaker "taste" is all over the map. Something as simple as the shape of your ears will likely determine what you like.

    Next time you are listening to music, push the back, outer edge of your ear forward, just an 1/8" of an inch---BIG difference huh? Now press them back to the point where they nearly touch the sides of your head, treble & mids are far less pronounced...

    The part about beats is a touch inaccurate- you can play the two tones into separate ears and still hear the beats, indicating that the source of this phenomenon is in how our brain processes the tones, NOT the tones interacting on the basilar membrane.
