No, it's not easy to take. I'm having one hell of a time, keeping my **** together. I think she is taking it better than I am. If we were in our 70's, maybe a little easier to take, but 53 is way too young. All the retirment planning in jepardy. Sometimes it makes you want to just live for today, spend what you make, and have a ball. So what if you have to work till you die, you could die tomorrow.....

I was 57 and took early retirement after 33 years working for a newspaper in Seattle. The management pension looked good and we had a big house for sale and would do ok. Well . . . 9/11 happened and we took a bath on the realestate. Feb the next year, my wife broke her hip and our Cobra had just run out. The following May on Mothers day weekend, she had a massive heart attack and it was discovered that she only had 20% of her heart working to keep her alive. Financially, we hit the bottom except for the pensions coming in. Everything else went to her healthcare. Now we are both OK and she is doing OK most of the time as long as she keeps up with the meds and get well program. We don't own our home and never will now, but we are comfortable and she will be 67 and I will be 66 this year. So, you get through things, keep it together and remember that others have it worse. At least you live in America, and nobody is knocking down your door in the middle of the night and dragging you out to the gulag. Life is good!

Don't give up hope. Maintaining a positive attitude is a big part of beating these types of things. Don't underestimate the human ability to persevere.

Your family will be in my thoughts.

This is surely hard for you to swallow at this point but never ever give hope till the last breath, that is what makes the difference. Find some strength from deep within and give it to her with your deepest love. Enjoy life with her the best possible without looking at your fears (yes, easier said than done but possible), the way you take it and live it will make the difference! Just love her and let her love you more than ever, you will gain from this no matter what! You do not know what the final outcome will be, "your attitude almost always determine your altitude in life". Life isn't over yet for neither of you, enjoy it to its fullest! May our God bless your couple! Hang on, still praying for both of you big time!

The lady that does my mom's hair had that. She was able to completely beat it about 5 years ago. She's still doing great today. Keep your head up.

Yes, I guess we all have problems in life. And a part of life is dying. At least I'm still working, and have an income coming in. She is a lot of pain, and just wants it to end. I think the end is near.

What a tough thing, you got balls of steel brother. I know I'd be a wreck. Prayers continuing man, try to stay positive as her seeing you sad is as heart breaking for her, as you having to deal with this. Surround yourself with family/friends, and God bless, buddy.

Thanks again for all the prayers. We will see the specialist tomorrow. Lots of hurry up and wait. And all the while, she is getting weaker and weaker. I sure hope we find out something tomorrow. Once again, thanks for your support.

Well, we saw two specialists, and no luck. She's full of cancer, so now we start the road to the end. What a nightmare. Thank you all for your concern, prayers, and words of encouragement. And another thing, if there is any smokers out there, I would advise you to throw those nasty things out the window.......

We lost my girlfriends mom to cancer about 9 months ago and she decided to die at home, Hospice made that possible and are still helping with grief counseling. They are a great non profit organization that I would highly recommend if thats what you decide.

My wife and I quit smoking 10 yrs. ago and tonight we both were talking about you and prayed for you too. Sorry to hear your update is so grim.

Sorry too hear, and a bit painful to talk about... You need local support on your end, we can offer support far away and I know first hand on how important that is. But you need local support, and if at all possible get Hospice support as soon as possible. I found them too help me when I needed the most, keep your chin up if possible. It sucks I know sorry.
