I am watching Bourne Supremacy HD-DVD this morning, and it is as good as ever. This game of piss-poor planned obsolescence of format kills me. I have a Sammy dual format player that is still going strong (barely two years old) and wonder what's the future hold say, 10 years or until the Sammny stop working (which at this point, I don't know, since I have no past experience with Sammy players). Do you think HD-DVD players will still be around in 10 years and beyond?
The other technology that I ended up holding the bag, is DVD-Audio. It is barely 5 years since its demise, and I don't even see that many used players for sale out there. Fortunately, my Pio SACD/DVD-A player still going strong (knock on wood). I guess the lesson in life is to stay away from any competing similar technology until the survivor is clearly identified.

I am sorry, I have no opinion on the matter. I am sure you do. So, don't mind me, I just want to talk audio and pie.

I would say about 5 years. People are still selling HDDVD on craigs list for blu-ray player.. HD DVD wont be around any longer when people broke or their equipment sitting in closet never using anymore.
Im sure some hd dvd hardcore people will take extremely care of their HD DVD player until it breaks or replaced by blu-ray players. UNLESS THERE ARE PEOPLE WHO COLLECT HD DVD PLAYERS AND STORE IT TO SELL WHEN HD DVD CAN NOT BE FOUND NEXT 10 YEARS!
If you seek for discs. good luck and try yard saleI am 100% BORN DEAF and No I am not kidding! Why am I here? My wife's hearing!

Don't worry, enjoy while it lasts.....
10-year life span for the Blu-ray format is projected (one possible estimate)
maybe something related to solid-state memory so no moving parts. -
DVD AUDIO was a cool format. I wish it survived and or co existed with Sacd. HD DVD was almost exactly like Blu Ray. They really wasn't much difference.
I really didn't care who won that war. Blu or HD made no difference. Both excellent formats.
You will see HD DVD players for sale here and there. I would grap one if you have a nice movie collection you wanna be able to watch down the road if your current player breaks.

My personal quest is to save to world of bad audio, one thread at a time. -
