I realized Hollywood never makes movies with people on bikes.

How cool would it be to have say... like Fast and Furious on bikes? :p

or maybe Ocean's Eleven on bikes!

Or the movie 300 on bikes.

I'd like to see bad guys robbing a bank on bikes in a movie. You know mountain bikes can go a lot of places police cars can't. :p

How about seeing Wolverine on a bike? Might have made this movie actually good. :D
PolkFest 2012, who's going>?

I could have sworn Hugh Jackman had a bunch of scenes on a motorcycle. I think it also involved grounding a helicopter.

If you mean pedal bike, have you seen "Breaking Away"?

Pretty sure he means bicycles, with pedals. And it's because they're boring to watch. Fun to ride, but not exactly entertaining as a viewer.

Go rent American Flyers with Kevin Costner. It was filmed during the now defunct Coors Bicycle Classic (originally Red Zinger). It includes plenty of actual footage, and two of the most difficult road courses in the USA, the Tour of the Moons through Colorado National Monument, and the brutal Morgul Bismarck course between Denver-Boulder.

I beg to differ... if you do a face plant or hit yourself in the nuts.. isn't that entertaining to watch when it happens to someone else?

how about bike stunts? those are entertaining to watch, no? :p

    1979.
Come to think about it...you're right Al. Not a lot of bicycle movies made in the past 20 years....

Yeah, it's called YouTube and America's Funniest Home Videos. Hardly enough material there for a movie. I guess "Jackass" would qualify, though one could hardly call THAT a movie either.
how about bike stunts? those are entertaining to watch, no?

Bike stunts != bicycling. And it's called the X-Games. I don't know what kind of movie you want built around that that isn't just a ripoff of a million other sports movies, except this time about flipping a bike around.

The market speaks for itself. If the world were clamoring for cycling movies, they would exist. The one actually televised cycling event every year, the Tour de France, gets pretty **** ratings in the US. And it's literally the ONLY nationally televised (barely) cycling event of the YEAR. Obviously the public isn't dying for more cycling in the media.
If you will it, dude, it is no dream.

? I'm just being honest :) He asked a question - why aren't there more bicycling movies - and I'm trying to answer. Wasn't meant as at all ill-willed :)

Kevin Bacon was in one in 1986. "Quicksilver"

I think person-powered vehicles tend to date themselves on film. Unless it's a period-type movie (Lords of Dogtown for example which was made in the 2000's but set in the late 70's early 80's) then they tend to be immediately lame.

Even if it's a bad **** movie... It's still incorporating a vehicle with which a majority of American's stopped using as a primary mode of transportation when they got their first car.

Not saying that is a good thing... I'd love to have the opportunity to ride a bike to work/grocery store...
