If thats not what you were asking for.
He got that finish by sending them to me to paint..
The above was the process.

Nik,
Here is an interesting link on achieving the Piano gloss finish:

I kind of liked "Keiths" approach using a brush combined with yours.
Did you spray?
I want to see how close I can get with a brush. I'm planning on using a finish like this for the subwoofer (front and back) I want to build to match these speaks I just finished:

I sprayed.
Interesting article. Even though I don't agree with it.
But I have a biased opinion since I work for a body shop.
The article is also 10 years old. Things have came a long way since then.
I would put my work against his or anybodies for that matter. Any day of the week..
He keeps talking about how durable his method is and how mines not.. What are going to do? Roll your speakers down a flight of stairs every day?
Sorry. I started to go on a rant. I'm just proud of what I do. And it sounded like the guy was knocking it.
Either way. I think your good. Judging by the speakers you just built. I don't think you'll have any problems producing something wonderful. You do nice work.
Be sure to document it or at least let us see the end result...
If you have any questions about anything. LMK and I'll be glad to answer them..

Jesse, if you could have seen the finish that Nik did on the end caps. You might wonder why he's not spraying finish coat on the hand built DP's.
I don't know what Nik did, but he did it well. -
Huh?
Nik did spray the finish on the end caps. He also rubbed them out as there's no other way to do it.Political Correctness'.........defined

Thanks
It was already on the speakers. Did not buy any new cloth. It looked good and no need to take off and put on new cloth. Sweetness.:) -

No rant taken. Your work rocks and I appreciate your opinion and advice! I won't be doing the sub for a while but will post pics when I do. I plan on practicing the finish on some MDF scraps I have first. My journey: http://www.1414audio.com/ -

Oh I see,
I didn't quite know what you ment...
But yes. You are correct. Its hard to achieve without wet sanding and buffing.
But can be done sometimes...

George, when I got them from Doro, they stank of fish. Took a while to remedy that.:p

you're being serious,,aren't you? So,, whats the story behind the fishy speakers?JC approves....he told me so. (F-1 nut)

Fantastic as I knew they would. Finally got them hooked up and the sound is different than the 2B's, but give me a few days with them and I'll be able to explain it better.
1st thing I noticed is that I need really need some spikes. These slick willy's slide all over the carpet.
My wife said they look wonderful and did not even ask how much they cost to be painted (that may be the 1st time ever she did not question the cost of something). -
What a awesome end result to be proud of!! How I would love to have my 2A look like that.
