Hi guys,
I am looking at 5-year-old used multi channel amplifier(Rotel).
Because this is my first power amp, I am not sure how it will last(life span).
Can I use power amp for for a long time(like more than 20 years)?
Thanks,

5 Years? That has a lot of life left, just take good care of it and it'll be good to you. Is it a RMB-1075?

Some the amps I own are 20+ years old and still going strong. Some even sound better that some of my newer ones.
Don't sweat the age, just the condition of the unit.

There might be a way to assess the probability of a failure.
using a Measurement such as "Mean time between failure"
a multichannel amplifier has numerous components
and just a single component failure would have an adverse effect on performance
dirt, dust, temperature variations, humidity, power spikes etc...
enjoy and when it breaks consider your options to repair or replace. -
At the moment I'm running a 20 year old Kenwood integrated amp (original owner--yours truly) on some SDAs and it sounds better than it ever has on other speakers...it is rated to 4 ohms.

I had a Rotel that lasted about 18 years. It probably would have lasted longer but it got daily use!Marantz AV-7705 PrePro, Classé 5 channel 200wpc Amp, Oppo 103 BluRay, Rotel RCD-1072 CDP, Sony XBR-49X800E TV, Polk S60 Main Speakers, Polk ES30 Center Channel, Polk S15 Surround Speakers SVS SB12-NSD x2

That Nikko looks 'mint'! What do you do to the outside?--it looks like my car after a good wax! Very NICE Pearsall.
(cfrizz) is right! I'm second in that line.

Truth be told...I haven't done anything to the amp. I think it's the lighting from the camera that picked up it's original shine. And yes this puppy is absolutely "Mint", everything is still original & working as if I just bought it. I'd better knock on wood as I say that. So it looks like the life line of electronics can be a very, long time."2 Channel & 11.2 HT "Two Channel:Magnepan LRSSchiit Audio Freya S - SS preConsonance Ref 50 - Tube preParasound HALO A21+ 2 channel ampBluesound NODE 2i streameriFi NEO iDSD DAC Oppo BDP-93KEF KC62 sub Home Theater:Full blown 11.2 set up. -

They key component that you can usually match a time frame up to is the power caps tend to go around the 20-25 year point...although that's not an absolute. There are many factors.TNRabbit

That's one of my concerns...going on 30yrs now & if they go I wonder if I can even replace them & at what cost? Other than that...this puppy is playing like it's a newborn pup. I'm keeping my fingers crossed."2 Channel & 11.2 HT "Two Channel:Magnepan LRSSchiit Audio Freya S - SS preConsonance Ref 50 - Tube preParasound HALO A21+ 2 channel ampBluesound NODE 2i streameriFi NEO iDSD DAC Oppo BDP-93KEF KC62 sub Home Theater:Full blown 11.2 set up. -
