Pioneer Elite SC-25/27

So, I was perusing Pioneer's website earlier, so I could drool over the SC-07 a little bit more, and noticed that they've just released two new models in the Elite AVR lineup, the SC-25 and SC-27.
There doesn't really seem to be a whole lot of difference between the SC-0x and SC-2x models. The new ones have iPhone compatibility, which I personally could give a rats **** about...lol They also have an additional HDMI input, with one of them being in front, which is a plus. They've also got 48 bit deep color over HDMI. Aside from that, they seem to be essentially the same. Did I miss any other differentiations?
Given those few differences, would it be worth it to step up to the 25/27? I'm going to be in the market for a new AVR early next year, and have mainly been looking at the Elite SC-07.
Any thoughts?

Go for the SC-07 while you can find a good deal. The new SC-2x models should also offer M/C PQLS but I don't need it. I'm good for awhile.Shoot the jumper.....................BALLIN.............!!!!!

They also went back to Burr Brown DAC's. I bet thats a move to save money. The Retail price for the SC-27 is only 2000.00 which is 200.00 less then the SC-07

I knew I missed a couple things. Thanks guys.:)
Sounds like(for me anyway), that there would really be no reason to get the newer versions. The nirvana inducer-

That's interesting Dan because those Wolfsons sounded great! Not that the BBs are bad...but yeah cost-saving. To Curt..that alone would make me stay with last year's model...what supports that new HDMI 48bit standard at this point? IMO, most upgrades these days go to VIDEO and the AUDIO is usually scaled down to pay for THAT! What a WASTE! Onkyo did the same thing with the 805 to 806 transition. In that case you lost both the Burr Brown's and the larger, more powerful, nearly IDENTICAL cap/transformer architecture to the 87x series! For improved video up-conversion and a few other minor non-audio features.
I'm a firm believer in FORGET ABOUT the VIDEO upgrade the AUDIO--model! 1080p pass through IS good enough!

I thought the Wolfson DAC's is what set the SC-07 apart from the rest. Most upscale receivers use Burr brown in the chain. The sound quality from the vsx94txh to the Sc-07 is very noticeable. I really liked the new SC models. I'm sure the ICE amp has something to do with it but even the Ipod sounded better. That's interesting Dan because those Wolfsons sounded great! I do however like the Iphone support. Alot of people use the Iphone for both. I have a Ipod I use to store all my music but I do put some music on the Iphone. I use my iphone while in the field because it's on me. It works in most NON Iphone Docks but it can get funky.

You can get the Pioneer SC-07 for around $1000 now. Places like www.dealcost.com have it for that. -
The Pioneer SC-05 can be had on Ebay for $720 shipped http://cgi.ebay.com/PIONEER-SC-05-SC05-RECEIVER-BRAND-NEW-FREE-SHIP_W0QQitemZ170353640002QQcmdZViewItemQQptZReceivers_Tuners?hash=item27a9de4242&_trksid=p3286.c0.m14&_trkparms=65%3A12%7C66%3A2%7C39%3A1%7C72%3A1234%7C293%3A1%7C294%3A50 (Using Bing Cashback and Ebay bucks)...which is such a good deal. Even with a retailer offering you a highly discounted new SC-25, the price difference is not going to justify the few extra added features on the 25 over the 05. If you are worried about a warranty, you can get a MACK or Squaretrade warranty for a very low price

According to Pioneer's website:

Nice , I see that. I see they are using BB for Analog to Digital conversion . The early spec's didn't talk about Wolfson. I'm very glad to hear this.
Thanks

Mantis: Looks like you had a VSX-94. Did you upgraded to the SC-07? Was the sound that much different that the 94? Did your 94 volume seem to top out at about -12? I'm wondering if my 7.1 set up is just overloading the internal amps? ThanksSony 83A80L TV and Roku Ultra

Same DAC but detachable power cord and most of all, it is made in Japan not Malaysia as my SC05. BTW, anyone knows where to get the 2 sprong (10/14 gauge) power cord for one of my BDP51fd that I bought as demo for $99.00. Pio wanted $58.00 for it. I am using the sub $10.00 3 sprong power cord from Monoprice but I 'd like to get a hold on a 2 sprong 10/14 gauge power cord ( PS audio prelude PC with removable ground pin is not
my best option) -

My, bad on the above post, I saw the previous post regarding the site and made the mistake of assuming.

He posted a website's price... not dealer cost. I guarantee you dealer cost is much less than that.

It's recommended to buy high end consumer electronics from authorized dealers. The Dealcost retailer is not authorized to sell Pioneer Elite receivers.
The good news is that you can get Pioneer's Elite SC-25 from authorized dealers for about the same price.

Hi all - i'm new here and am in the market to upgrade my VSX-72 TXV and the SC 25 caught my eye.
Would it be worth my while to upgrade - i mean would it sound better?
Any news on recent pricing on these?
I'm in Ontario Canada and up here they are selling for close to $2000.
thanks -
Search the forum for IceAmp or Icepower and you will see allot of user reviews. I would suggest you try to get your hands on the SC-05 for cheaper price. Check out valueelectronic.com and get with Rob for a good price.Shoot the jumper.....................BALLIN.............!!!!!

Ice power rules! I spent a week with the Onkyo Txnr1007 and I had it returned to Fry's.
The Pio SC05 is awesome comparing to the Onkyo. Even at low listening level, it still provides clean, crisp and detail sound. With the Onkyo, the mid is fine but the hi-frequency is kind of roll-off.
Sorry Onkyo, it's a one hell of piece with all of the gadgets but it's sounding is not for me.
