I'm looking at the Hts 2600 from Monster. Though are these worth it at all?

Some say there's a noticeable difference in sound while others have said they will actually degrade sound quality.

Well...I have the 2500. Didn't notice much of a difference in sound and video as much as cabling change did, but it shure looks perdie in my rack. :)

If you can get a good deal, go for it. Protection is always good for peace of mind.

I notced a difference when I got my Panamax Max 5100, mainly because the power in my apartments is unstable. Occasionally the sound would "dip" and fizzle a little from my amp. The Max 5100 cleared it right up.

It's also helped me sleep through many many bad storms knowing that my gear is safe. :)

In my 2ch rig, which essentially resides on it's own circuit, I didn't notice any difference. In HT, it made some subtle improvements.

    Plus, it looks cool.

If you are looking for cool, stay with Monster. If you are looking for performance, there are many other products available. The technology I selected is balanced power. I have no regrets purchasing this unit.

Theres a tremendous amount of difference in price thats for sure.

Yes there is,I say get your read on and visit monster's website.I own the HTS500 and it make a noticable difference in my sound and video performance, not to mention if something happens to anything audio/video plugged in to it,monster will replace it.

They make alot of difference, the higher you go up the chain the better overall performance gains..........look into it.

    Hello

Okay, thanks for the info. I"ve been on ebay the last few days and was on Monsters site tonight checking it out. I bid on a one month old hts3500 and had it at $175 till some ******** with a snipe program got it at the last second. Anyway I'm probably going to with the middle of the road, can't afford an upper stage right now. The power is pretty bad out here in the country so......

Say I noticed on the back shots of the conditioners that they don't have any of the plugs labeled for the subwoofer. Are you guys plugging the sub into the plug labled spare.

    Thanks

WAAAAAAAAAAA,I like to pay cash whenever possible. But you know if you want quality, you gotta pay for it:( .

    Satori,
thats a great price for the HTS5000.It retailed for 599.99.It's one fine piece. It made a tonal and video quality change for the better.Amp input is what I used to plug my psw450 into when I owned it.Any analog filter is cool. When you dig into them, you'll see the outlets have filters for digital and analog sources.

    Hello again

Well I went with the 3600, its got the updated version 2 of the filtering and I like the digital readout so I can see what the voltage is actually doing out here. I'll probably be looking at that damn thing instead of the movie:) Anyway thanks for all the input, especially Mantis for quick reply too my questions. I really appreciate it. I don't know what I would do without the Internet sometimes. I don't think alot of people know its potential or take advantage of it.

    Steve,

That's great, I think most of the people on this forum will lead you in the right direction with personal knowledge or at least a reference to where you can obtain the information you require. I looked at monster and panamax and I liked panamax because of the fact that this is what they do, both are good and again slight tonal difference but great piece of mine factor for me.

I might be a little off base, but if you are looking to 'protect' your gear from a power surge, I think you will find that a 9.99 surge protector (mine is AR) offers as much protection as any power conditioner will. Of course, if you get a direct lightening strike or something, all the surge protection in the world won't help much.

    TroyD,

I know what you are saying and you are probably right, but the allure of the pananmax or monster sitting on your rack needs to be factored in. I really want to take the plunge and upgrade what i already have but with a new baby, house and other things to think about i try to keep this hobby just that a hobby. But sometimes it is sooooooooooooooooo hard to do.:D

    Hello

No I was looking for more then "protection" And yes I know about the direct hits from Lightning. I've been through a few out here in NE Montana. I was downstairs in my foks house once and it came in downstairs and all I saw was a blue streak going through the basement. You talk about somebodys hair stand on end. I can't remember exactly what it blew inside the main transformer but it put a pretty good dent on the transformer case, it sits on the ground because all of our powerlines are buried. The ones around the farm that is, the main line is still above ground.

I live in a "trailer" out here and it doesn't have the best for dedicated circuits, things are "looped" together in here and I know that this monster power conditioner is going to be very helpful for me. Especially for video, yes I'm probably only going to see a subtle difference in audio. We'll see........

And plus I like technology, gadgets, electronic toys, etc.... Its a curse, I know.....

I just want to stir the pot a little more here. At work we have a Monster AVS2000 hooked up to a Hitachi 42" plasma, a Yamaha RXV1300, and Polk RM7600. It is usually correcting the voltage by adding 6 to 9 volts. I was setting up a demo in another room and I took the AVS2000 in there, and went back to reconnect the Hitachi, Yamaha, and Polk setup. I could tell the high definition feed was grainier without the AVS2000. Then a scene came on from Tomb Raider and everytime the machine guns would go off, I could see the Showtime HD logo distort. I made sure to point it out to my co-workers who had previously thought voltage stabilizers were useless. :)

The 9.99 surge protector doesn't come with a 100,000 dollar warranty.Monster Power will replace any audio or video product while connected to there power center.Level of warranty goes hand and hand with the level of center.

    fireshoes,
good read man.Just like anything else,if ONE doesn't experience it, or hear/see a difference then it's all hoopla to them.

I have seen there products make differences in so many different systems.I plan on upgrading to the avs2000 and the HTPS7000 for the new theater.

Mantis makes some good points. Some other things to consider in regards to power protection is all sources of potentialy damaging electricity or signals. I've never seen a $9.99 surge protector that protects phone lines, cable/satelite signals, and other possible incoming sources besides the good ole power plug.

    Guys,
is there any good power conditioner with detachable power cord? I have a problem in which the opening behind the wall unit is not big enough to fit in your typical plug. I have Monster HTS800 (that I have to remove the cable and resolder it to fit) and thinking of getting a better one. Thanks....
I am sorry, I have no opinion on the matter. I am sure you do. So, don't mind me, I just want to talk audio and pie.

I think the Rotel power conditioners/protectors have removable cords but you'd have to check with them to make sure. The higher end Panamax line I think has them as well.

I am almost positive my panamax 5100 has a detachable power cord, like I said piece of mind is sometimes worth this cost, I don't have a super high end system but what I have I want to protect.

I thought mind did too, but I could have easily been confused and didn't want to go back there and pull it to make sure. ;)

I've got some kind of Monster, has phone hookup as well as a/v. Not very expensive, less than $100 at Circuit C, has 8 outlets. I have heard, and this could be misguided anecdotal evidence, that Monster is more of a pain to get warranty coverage from than Panamax. I really don't know if mine does any good or not, but it does make things more convenient & maybe, just maybe, it will pay off if there's disaster.

    Phuz, I am waiting.....;)

Dan, curious, why you need both AVS-2000 and HTPS-7000? I am looking at the 2000, but power sagging has not been an issue in my area, so I might just save the money for the 7000. What do you think?

    AVS-2000
Provides consistent 120V output when AC input fluctuates anywhere from 80-140V. Three easy-to-read digital meters for monitoring of incoming voltage, amperage draw, and voltage correction

    HTPS-7000
For Hookup of Electronic Components to AC Power Providing Optimized Monster Clean Power™ and Protection for AC Power Lines Without Clean, Balanced Power, Your Home Theatre System Can’t Deliver Peak Performance The current that comes from your wall outlets is inherently imbalanced, causing high-frequency oscillations that get picked up by your sensitive home theater system in the form of performance-robbing hum, buzz, and static. And while filtering radio frequency (RF) and electromagnetic (EM) interference can remove much of the hum, buzz, and static from your system, only a power center with perfectly balanced power can fully remove interference for the best possible picture and sound from your home theatre system.
I am sorry, I have no opinion on the matter. I am sure you do. So, don't mind me, I just want to talk audio and pie.
