It seems famous people are dropping like flies. Karl Malden was like a lot of great actors of his time. He was a first generation American with a Czech mother and Serbian father and grew up poor. He worked in a steel mill for three years then decided to go to teachers college, where he was introduced to acting. His acting career was just starting when WW II broke out and he joined up to serve his country. After the war he took up acting again and was in several films. In 1951 he recieved an oscar for his performance in A Streetcar Named Desire. I remember watching The Streets of San Francisco , which he was a main charactor with Micheal Douglas.
I liked him as an actor. I remember reading somewhere, that he had the third longest marriage in hollywood history as well, another accomplishment of this fine actor.
