Speaker auditions??? IMO???

Two questions from a Polk Forum rookie:

1) I've seen a fair amount of comments with Polkies stating they've auditioned speakers. How do you do this? Do you buy and return in less than 30 days or other?

2) What does "IMO" stand for???

Probably dumb questions, but just curious. Thanks

    IMO = In My Opinion.
    IMHO = In My Humble Opinion (not many at club polk qualify for this one....)

    Audition = a few options.....
    Find people local to you who have what you are interested in is best.

    If there are any local get togethers of audio friends (whether club polk or just people you know at work) go.

    Find local stores that have something you are interested in or have never heard.

    When travelling, ask about audio stores in the area you are going to and check them out.

    Last resort would be to blind purchase - if you do this, plan on used or a good return policy and make sure you understand the return policy before you order. (if new)

    I like the meet other people or other gear option personally.... (so, where you at currently?)

    Usually when I audition speakers, it's at an audio store. Sometimes you can find a company that allows in home trials, but I believe that's more common with components such as cables, etc...

    IMO=In My Opinion.

    I work in the Industry. So I get to hear so many different speakers. When I demo speakers it could be in my home, my shop , training , trade show , or someone elses shop/store.

    I have spent countless hours doing so. It's great.
