Hello...I have a PSW250 subwoofer and the fuse is blowing. We had a lightning strike nearby and lost some equipment, including the TV power supply and main board that was hooked to directly for sub-woofer output. TV was on surge protector but not the subwoofer ( Doh!)

Have been using Radio Shack Fast Acting 1-Amp 250V fuse in place of the T 1.0A 250V original fuse. On the first fuse replacement, unit powered up briefly and made humming sound before fuse blew. Thereafter fuse blew immediately. There is odd brown goo surrounding the sub-woofer inputs.

Do I need a specialized fuse? Should I send in for repair? If so, what does this typically cost?

Call polk customer service to see what they'll do. Generally they'll allow you to send it in for a free estimate of repair. Your plate amp is probably shot and requires extensive repair/replacement if it really did get hit by a surge from lightning.
