MFW15 AV123 is this the best 500$ bangfb
after reaserching under 275 subs i came accross this. Surely this is the best for 500,

If those specs are accurate, it would be hard to beat that AV123 sub.

the sub box 10 is a good deal ,but the more expensive sub box 12 still doesnt beat the mfw15 according to specs

That very well could be the best $500 sub around. But there is a lot of baggage hanging over AV123, and the MFW right now. Things are supposed to be looking up, but I would suggest doing a lot more research into AV123 and the MFW15 before ordering.

The MFW 15 is plagued with problems...a huge failure rate on amps and finish issues since it's been introduced. Those that have working subs love them, but those that have gone through multiple replacments of amps and subs are still waiting for resolution. There is supposed to be a fix coming soon, but there have been so many delays and questionable behavior from the owner, that it's definitely a wait and see situation.

There have been several other threads that got locked and removed at various forums and AV123 shutdown there own months ago. You get the drift.

i feel that with the warranty you can go wrong .Sure its a pain in the **** waiting for a replacement ,but this thing sips down to like 15 .The only other thing that comes this close is the hsu vtf 2 mk3 at 550, but it only dips down to 18 in comparison . I went to the cinema and was blown away with the lfe from war of the worlds . For 500 i think this is the closest i am gona get to that bass that you can feel and not hear

I'd read through the thread on audioholics that Ron Temple posted. It sounds like a lot of people are having a LOT of trouble with anything from AV123. Sounds like some people have even bought and payed for products directly from the company and not received them.
I didn't read the whole thread, but skimmed through it. Based on that, I'd recommend going with something else. Sounds like those subs are plagued with problems, and that no fix has really been provided. I'd pass.The nirvana inducer-

From what I can gather, the major amplifier issues they had have been resolved. Mark has spent a lot of time talking about fixing things (though it took a lot longer than it should have) and is starting to come through on fixing the QC issues.
I encouraged a friend to jump on one of these, and I am quite impressed with its performance for the money. And so far, no issues... *crosses fingers* -
It's up to you, but what if the company isn't around to honor the warranty? It's been estimated that up to 50% of the amps failed. A $500 paper weight wouldn't be fun.i feel that with the warranty you can go wrong .

I have an ONIX SP3 tube amp that originally came from AV123. I love the amp and hope AV123 can continue because, at least in the instance of the SP3, they offered a truly excellent product at an unbelievable price.
However, in these economic times, the survival of all purveyors of non-essential goods and services are in peril. I wish this weren't true, but it is... -
The warning signs are there, but I really couldn't say. AV123 has been around quite awhile, but this isn't the first time they've had to dig out of a hole. Small businesses can live or die on the flip of a coin or a bad decision. Dane, there are annoucements that they've fixed the problem with a new amp board, but none have been sent out yet. Another delay was announced a couple of days ago. I just think the company needs to run smoothly for awhile for the risks of doing business with them to be justified...and all the folks waiting get satisfaction. Unfortunately for them, they need sales now...so go right ahead, the glass is half full, it's cracked but they found some new glue. There is a fixed that has been promised but I'm not holding my breath, it was first said to start shipping in March, now it's early July. -

i would think they have it sorted out The company's whole rep is at stake with this product plus theyv sourced it to diff manufacturers .The only thing that makes me hesitate is the companys founder rippin a guy off outa what seems to be chump change for a ceo, even though the product wasent orderd directly from the company its still realy sh**ty , But i'm a sucker for a good deal and i put gas in my car and eat steak , that right there involves alot of shady imoral goings ons

Ive personally been dealing with AV123 for a few months now over an order, and still do not have the product. I dont want to go into any details before its over, but when it is I will explain the situation, good or bad.

I'd listen to Ron, too many problems and that's being posted on allot of forums. I would skip right over it. SVS, HSU, Epik are all contenders with good CS to back them up. If you're willing to do it and have problems................you're going to hear quite a few " I told you so's".Shoot the jumper.....................BALLIN.............!!!!!

Yep I paid for it, received it, then they received it back, and I received another, then they received that one back, and I have yet to recieve another.
Sorry for being cryptic, but its unfinished business, and really dont want to talk too much before it is finished. Needless to say, Ive yet to be satisfied with my purchase.

Slow, if you want an MFW15 go for it but I think you are getting pretty consistant feedback here which is what you asked for.
But don't try to justify it to this crowd. A lot of the owners here have subs they are very happy with, to name one, SVS PB-13.Speakers: SDA-1C (most all the goodies)

To clarify my position on this...
The MFW-15 has the potential to be one of the best values out there, but there is no doubt that there are concerns with purchasing from them. I do believe that AV123 will come out of this, but it WILL take them some time.
As mentioned above, there are lots of alternatives. SVS, HSU, even Outlaw or Dayton... And my friend purchased an Elemental Designs that was pretty good price as well. If you're not in a hurry, you could wait for the dust to settle... but the aforementioned vendors would love to earn your business! -

That's understandable, everyone loves getting a good deal. It's not necessarily a good deal though if you basically have a 50/50 shot of getting one that's junk.
The fix for them may not even end up coming in July. It sounds like it was originally supposed to be fixed in May, and it's since changed to early July. There's every possibility that it will get pushed back yet again.
Like thsmith said, the feedback here has been pretty consistent. Ultimately, it's your choice, but be prepared for a lot of "I told you so's", in the event of it crapping out. As others have said, the warranty is only good if the companies still in business. It sounds like they're kind of on the edge right now, so it's a buyer beware situation.The nirvana inducer-
