I think they look pretty cool. I'd like to give them a listen. The driver design, force cancelling concept is interesting.
It's not new technology, it's called a bipole. Additionally, there have been a number of subwoofer builds that utilize the same bolted/mounted sub drivers. It's definitely advantageous, but it's well established and produced tech.design is where science and art break even. -
My friend happened upon some KEF 107/2 for free.
One of the tweeters doesnt work, no sound. Any ideas?I got static in my head

While the baffle shape has acoustic advantages it's a little too techy looking for my tastes.A nice wood veneer would improve the looks IMO.

But since the world is going to end tommorow and they have a wonky tweeter have him ship them to me. -
Seemingly everything works. The one good speaker sounds really nice. The other doesnt even sound too bad w/out a tweeter ( well not really ). So how extensive and costly will a replacement be? Any idea?
BTW, Those new KEF are cool looking and I would love to hear them.I got static in my head

If a replacement is available I expect it to be spendy, but that is a speaker probably worth fixing, especially so since they were freebies.(btw. did they come with the separate KUBE bass equilizer.)
However before anything you need someone competent to do some trouble shooting to confirm if it is even the tweeter thats at fault and not a failed resistor or cap in the crossover etc.The simplest thing would be to swap tweets between cabinets.Great care would be needed so as to not dent the delicate metal domes, otherwise they would be junk. Also care is needed when removing the protective grille in front of the tweeter. If the tweeter checks out ok someone in the know will have to trouble shoot the crossover. -
No Kube. We switched the two tops and still same prob w/that specific top.
Switching out the actual tweet is a good idea. However competence is probably not my middle name. So I will prob suggest getting someone who knows what to do involved.
Thanks for the advice.I got static in my head
