I have a set of RT20P and lost the highs in them. I am assuming I need to replace the tweeters. How do I find replacments and how do I find instructions for the replacement? Thanks!

    Welcome to CP!

For parts (or help w/ warranty service,) either click on the SUPPORT button at the top of the screen or call the service number. Be sure to have the model numbers, etc. ready. And to sure to tell them you're a CP member--gets you a discount.

Now the question is: why the blown tweeters? The most frequent cause is trying to play too loud w/ too little amp power. Once the amp starts to clip, the tweeters get fried. Or there could be a problem w/ the amp. Can you tell us more about the source/amp/level etc. so we can make an educated guess about what might help prevent this from happening again?

    Cheers, Jim

Hey Jim, thanks for the response. I am using a Yamaha AX-596, rated @ 100w/channel at 8 ohms; max power 145 per. Obviously, its not a top of the line amp by any means, but was serving my purposes fine until this happened. I suspect it got turned up too loud by one of my kids or one of their friends and allowed to stay there with some sustained clipping action going on. :-) Of course, no one would confess. I turned the system on one day and had no highs from either speaker. Any suggestions or thoughts are appreciated.

No suggestions on how to deal with the kids. :( I was fortunate that our daughter never had any interest in messing around with our stereo. And not just because of what she might have done to the system--it was capable of playing loud enough to cause hearing damage.

Since there appears to be no problem with your normal operation, I think you're OK. If the problem re-occurs, then action might be required.

    Good Luck!

Some receivers have volume limiting capabilities, I don't know if yours does but I set mine at the maximum volume I want so the wife and kids won't blow speakers or have the Neighbors want to burn my house down.
