I am not familiar with that model of center channel speakers.

some center channel speakers have two sets of binding posts for the wires.. check to see if yours does.. if it does.. the metal jumper that goes between them may be lose.

What is an rm2600..I don't see it anywhere on Polk's site. What year was that? And are you really from my parents' part of Europe 'Zorba'?

Being a sub/sat i doubt it has dual binding posts. Chances are either the drivers are blown or something inside has come loose. Do the cones move freely and without scratching?
