Looking for drivers that are "frozen" due to shifted magnets for the purpose of experimenting with re-setting the magnets. My neighbor is a machine shop owner, and he's willing to help me come up with a jig/fixture that can adjust in increments of 1/1000th of an inch. Please let me know if you have any: 6511,6510,6503,6501,6500 MW drivers that you'd be willing to sell for a small amount instead of pitching them in the trash. I can/will send the box and packing materials with the postage prepaid to make it as painless as possible to ship them too.:)

No, the basket is too distorted to re-mount the base plate, and there's no good way to make it flat again.:( It might serve as an organ donor though.:)

I'm not really planning to commercialize my procedure. The best insurance against magnet/plate shift is to use JB Weld or other heavy bodied epoxy between the magnet and the plates. (both sides of the magnet) ;)

I am hopefully goinfg to up grade my XO in the 1Cs and I plan to do just that with JB Weld.

How much of the magnet and baseplate need to have JBW applied, all the way around, one spot or 4 spots or, well you get the idea?

I just apply it all the way around and use my fingertip to finish it off so that it looks like a caulking job. A 2tube pkg. will do at least 8 MWs, I use the regular, not the quick stuff.:)

I am curious as to what you have come up with as a jig.
Here is mine. I got the idea from an AK-er. It worked, but the threads in the PVC wear, so something metallic, yet none magnetic would work great.

Sorry, I didn't see this question before:redface: My jig/fixture is turned from billet aluminum.split in half and hinged, with fine thread bronze inserts every 72 degrees (5) with bronze thumbscrews threaded into them. I don't want to go through the rigamaroll necessary to be able to post pics on this site....so I don't!

I have three frozen MW6501's and one MW6502. All frozen. I did see you didn't want to make it a service but I'd like to get them all working again...

I'd suggest trying a jig like the one pictured or just get the new replacement drivers from Polk with a nice discount for forum members! (You!) Good luck !

Hi, just found this thread but haven't found out where you're reselling repaired drivers. Looks like I need two for my "not so great of a deal" SA find.
