I would be offended too! Who wants to look at a flag in their office!!

I'm just kidding. It's ridiculous. I could understand how a **** flag could be offensive, but the American flag? Maybe they need to move to to a less offensive country.

Well, it does seem the complaint was more about the appropriateness of it as a decor item in a office space shared by more than one person.

I don't know how it looked ... but as long as it isn't obtrusive she shouldn't be complaining about the flag being there.

Given none of us know the impact, positioning, size, etc. it's hard to say if the lady who complained about it had a legitimate beef. I can imagine a small shared office space, and then imagine a flag which if misappropriate in size and/or placement being a nuisance to someone.

Then again, maybe the person who complained is a **** :)

I kind of like those little ones that people would stick on their computer monitors, they're cute!

This was a 3'x5' flag ... I could see it go either way if the intent was a permanent placement.

Reading over it, sounds like a miscommunication. Seems like the complainer was okay with the flag, but was wanting something smaller to be part of the decor, and not the main attraction.

You need to re-read the article and not lean so far left while doing so.

I really don't see how someone could consider it offending. I do however see it could be annoying. 3' by 5' in office space can be a bit too much.

Putting someone's flag on the floor, regardless of the nation it represents, now that is very offensive. Either it was deliberate, in which case the person should be punished, or the person never was educated how a flag should be respected.

I've never laughed so hard in my life. Keep in mind that supervisors in hospitals have big offices...shared or not. If I have an office the size of my living room and I have to share it then yeah, I'm going to be really pissed in the first place.

So now we have a pissed off foreigner that I can bet doesn't own Polk speakers let alone listen to music laying flags on the floor. Which is a common sense no-no, not just in our country but in others as well. In some countries you get shot for things like that. The hospital should fire them just for being an idiot.

Who wants a doctor working on them that doesn't have any common sense? Not me, that's why I don't go to Army doctors.

Army doctors go to regular med schools, the army pays, and then they are in the army after graduating.

    Just got this response back:
Thank you for your comments. We share your anger and hurt about the removal of the flag. It is very important to clarify that a misunderstanding has been communicated through the media. The supervisor that is described in the media is actually the co-worker of Ms. McLucas and not Ms. McLucas's immediate supervisor. The incident was two nursing supervisors who got into a dispute. It was wrong and disrespectful and as soon as we learned about it, we took immediate action to correct the situation. The flag is now proudly displayed once again, and we apologize to all who were equally offended by this unpatriotic action, including the owner of the flag. We have reprimanded the employee and let them know we don't tolerate behavior inconsistent with our Company's values.

Everyone else that sent an email get the same one?

My guess if their form-reply is a suck-up to address the majority of the comments they got, and not a reflection of what really happened.

Cody, I received the same email. Being that it's Sunday, they must be working overtime to smooth out the ruffled feathers, as they should.

I got it as well. Glad to see it and hope it went down the way they said. But I feel as others...... just back peddling P. R. because of the grief they were receiving. With the same folks running the place/making decisions, means similar things will happen in the future. IIRC the news article spoke to the owner of the flag, and she made it sound like the removal (not placing it on the floor) was approved and sanctioned by the hospital. Which I have to assume was why she went to the media with the story how else would they have gotten it. Replied back with a thank you for correcting the situation and the email, also asked if they would be asking for a retraction from the reporting media that got it wrong.
