this receiver makes a popping or snapping sound only on the right channel. not affected by the volume knob or balance. I cleaned all appropriate connections with deoxit to no avail. any suggestions? I am an a noob to this stuff, so is it worth me messing around with? or should I just sell it off as a preamp?

thanks

Do you get any signal out of that channel? It might be as easy as some capacitor going bad on the signal path. Or you might have to pull the oscilloscope out and find, which part is failing.

This will be a little easier than an O-scope. Does it do it on one source or all sources? Interchange left and right channels. Does the problem follow with the change? If so, it's the amp, otherwise you need to check your speaker.

it's not the speaker. I have only tried it with fm and am radio. always out of the right channel. I will try some other sources, but I'm confident that it will make no difference. I do get signal out of the channel and it sounds really really good until the popping noise. thanks for the help I will check some other stuff as well

definitely the amp. should I bother or just dump it? I have no experience troubleshooting which component in the amp is the problem.

If you've no experience in troubleshooting, I'd just dump it.
