So I was occasionally blowing the fuses in pairs when getting a little crazy w/ volume....and I read somewhere that we're supposed to just bypass them...well I was hesitant....but was blowing them here and there....worked up to 1.5 amps and now to 2 amps fast blow....I think they sound different...is it possible?

Well I'm also playing from Media Monkey instead of windows media....and I have tweaked the EQ settings....de deh dedehhhhh probably the difference I hear.
Cool stuff: Adcom GFA-555, GFP-710, Oppo BDP-83, Monitor 10's w/RDO198s, rebuilt and modded XO: Sonicap/Mundorf topside, Daytons Low.

What are you powering them with?

Turn it down before you fry the tweeters.

How LOUD are you playing them ? I've got un-modded 10As driven by an old Pioneer AVR (wpc-unknown). I can get them very loud and still not blow the correct 1amp fuse, ever.:confused::)

20 out of 30 on my sony 100-110 wpc....is that too loud?

i've heard many ppl tell me that a truly stable amp can provide truly loud playback just fine.....u dont suppose I'm driving too much power as is?

Higher powered clean amps have better control over the speakers. If you are clipping your AVR you can be sending burst of damaging high powered distorted signals to the tweeters. Getting an amp will make it sound better at higher volumes, but even clean high power will fry a tweeter after the voice coils heat up. If you are after very loud tunes with an AVR get some big old Cerwin Vega's.

Please. Please contact me a ben62670 @ yahoo.com. Make sure to include who you are, and you are from Polk so I don't delete your email. Also I am now physically unable to work on any projects. If you need help let these guys know. There are many people who will help if you let them know where you are.
    Thanks

I like the SQ of the polks....the AVR is going out the door...im going to get a real amp....and maybe calm it down some on the volume if that's what you're saying.

I recently took possession of a pair of Monitor 10 sepakers, The previous owner says they worked fine when shipped but I only get sound out of the tweeters. No mids or base sound at all.

Speakers could have been better shock insulated when packaged but only very minor dings occurred to a couple bottom corners, really minor.

I plugged the same banana plug connectors into another pair of speakers and they pay fine.

Are they repairable? Does anyone have an idea as to why this is happening?

    Any information would be appreciated.

    Thanks.

FIrst guess would be that the mid woofers were damaged in shipping.
I think you'll find out when you lightly push in on the Midwoofers that they're locked up. My experience with shipping the old monitors is the glue holding the magnets to the frame has dried out and the magnets have slipped locking the voice coils.
Try pushing in on the midwoofers. they should move free and easily. IF not then they've gone bad and need replacing.
Polk has a great replacement for them.
If they move free and easily then pull out the midwoofs and make sure the wires are still intact and have not come off during shipping.
