the house is 3 years old and it powers up fine upstairs but it does have a hum to it, but dont know if thats just because all I had hooked up to it was an I-pod to test it out with some crappy connect cables. will do a real test latter tonight hooked up to my power conditioner and everything. I know this house has some elec. noise to it.
Yep, sounds like you have some wiring issues and perhaps the PS caps are getting weak in the Carver and perhaps the combination of the two senarios are causing the problem.
Electronics sure are fun!!!!"Appreciation of audio is a completely subjective human experience. Measurements can provide a measure of insight, but are no substitute for human judgment. Why are we looking to reduce a subjective experience to objective criteria anyway? The subtleties of music and audio reproduction are for those who appreciate it. Differentiation by numbers is for those who do not".--Nelson Pass Pass Labs XA25 | EE Avant Pre | EE Mini Max Supreme DAC | MIT Shotgun S1 | Pangea AC14SE MKII | Legend L600 | BlueSound Node 3 - Tubes add soul! -
also some of the hum is transfered to the speakers as well with nothing hooked up to it at all, F**ing fantastic!

There is a electronics repair guy that is literally a stones throw away from my house and I just took it to him, I'm not going to mess with it, and I want to make sure it is working properly. Seems like a well made powerful amp so I'll put a little money in it.
