Have you gone over to the Carver site to read about it? It would probably be a good idea if you have not. I bet you have -

Where did you find that Info at. I would like to read the article or did you look thru the schematics.
Thanksengtaz

Roy, it's in the service manuals, revisions and certain schematics. To answer your question, yes, it is a common ground amp.~ In search of accurate reproduction of music. Real sound is my reference and while perfection may not be attainable? If I chase it, I might just catch excellence. ~
-
Thanks, but I went thru the Service manuals I could find and all the service updates were for all 1.5t's, no serial number limits. Both #1 and #2 bulletins. It would be cool to read more on this.engtaz

Ah, I may have more than what you have. I do recall reading that somewhere in the archives though....I think it was in reference to the M1.5t. I could have sworn I mentioned this on a thread about two or three years ago as well.~ In search of accurate reproduction of music. Actually, come to think of it....could it be the M1.0t we are thinking of? Damn, I'm getting old.....~ In search of accurate reproduction of music. Real sound is my reference and while perfection may not be attainable? If I chase it, I might just catch excellence. ~

Getting old and having kids does that to you. LOL ROFLMAO.engtaz

Well I did get it and pluged it in the outlet in the basement and the power went out, there is no power switch on it and all I have is a 15 amp breaker so it threw it. It did work fine at the guys house and I pluged it in upstairs and it works but dont have enough power for it in the basement dammit

Long shot. In your basement, are the circuits on a GFI? The 1.5 is about 3 amps at wide **** open. -
no gfi but it must pull a bunch on power up it takes a long time to drain after uppluging, and my lights are also on that same breaker.
-
As with any high current amp. If you can, run a dedicated circuit to the rig. 20A minimum. Still don't know why it would throw a 15A breaker. It takes a lot to do that.
-
If the filter caps are going bad, the surge to fill them will blow the breaker. This happened to me on a couple of 4.0t's as well. That may be the issue. Kill everything but the amp and the rig keeping just the minimum amount of lights and components necessary and try again.~ In search of accurate reproduction of music. The breaker could be going also. How old is the breaker.engtaz

the house is 3 years old and it powers up fine upstairs but it does have a hum to it, but dont know if thats just because all I had hooked up to it was an I-pod to test it out with some crappy connect cables. will do a real test latter tonight hooked up to my power conditioner and everything. I know this house has some elec. noise to it.

There is something wrong (w/the amp or the circuit, or both). The 1.5 in no way should trip a 15A breaker while idling or running wide open. Most amps have large power supply bypass caps and they ALL take time to drain upon power down. Some amps have a mute circuit that cuts in when the power is off so you don't hear the caps drain audibly. The drain is totally normal."Appreciation of audio is a completely subjective human experience. Measurements can provide a measure of insight, but are no substitute for human judgment.
