ps2 is not even half of the gamecube, the only reason its here is its games, the only comparison to nething is gamecube and xbox, xbox wins, but gamecube games are better - IMO

One game will make the ps2 worth the buy.....well actually 2 games.

    Grand Theft Auto 3
    GTA: Vice City.

Addicting, open end game play. I know people will bring up Halo, as well they should, but after Halo what game is out there that you cannot get on the ps2? Not very many.

GTA meets the Sopranos meets the ps2= addictive mobster fun.

Also you buy a system for fun factor, not how pretty the games look, or how well they sound in DD. Again ps2 wins hands down on fun factor. Hell Vice City is in dts, and so is SSX Tricky. You want to give your sub a serious workout? Throw in SSX tricky. Some of the lowest bass (from Mix Master Mike a la the Beastie Boys) I have every heard. I mean damn low. The opening sequence (to get you pumped to play the game) has some great sound effects, and I have used it to reference my system for friends. Plus the game is highly addictive, and after two days your thumbs are begging for mercy.

I have the GC too. I love it, and it has some very innovative games....as Nintendo should. Another good choice.

I am just a little pissed at Microsoft, because they think guys are really stupid. Have you seen the commercials for the new womens beach volleyball game (Dead or Alive Xtreme Beach Volleyball)? The commercial is funny as hell, but the sad thing is some teenage kids (boys) are going to buy this game because you have some tittilating animated chicks playing a second rate volleyball game that just plain sucks. OOOHHH look at the animated girls....they look so real.....they are in near thongs.....whack,whack,whack! Look I know sex sells, but this is as cheasy as it gets.

I like all 3 for different reasons.
Playstation 2 has alot of games and good one to boot.I used to own PS2 when it first came out.
Gamecube also has alot of good games and cost less then the other 2.It has a high value.
XboX I currently own and it has the best looking games Iv'e seen so far.Not as many games but there are some killer good games.

Here's what I would do,go look at the game selection and buy the system that supports the kind of games you enjoy.

I sold my Ps2 awhile ago to buy the xbox...traded it in.But today I think we are going to get another PS2.Just miss some of the games and some of the new ones are killler.
Gamecube we will get as well.Goof price and my son really wants it.

SOCOM US Navy Seals Online (ps2)! Nuff said.

Endless gameplay with 15 other people (thousands online at a time, 16 people per game). I can't count how many hours I've wasted playing that game........

Rumor is that the next GTA game due out later this year will be an online game as well. I can't WAIT. :D

Free to a certain extent. I know that some ISP's will charge you say...3 bucks a month, because you have to have a special connection.

Like with Comcast, you can't just get on and go, you have to set it up with them before you can log on.(The ps2 is what i am talking about)

Thats what I heard, please correct me if I am wrong.

I dunno, and I don't know how they could do that. It's just IP based traffic. I don't know how your ISP would be able to tell the difference between playing quake online on your PC, playing a PS2 game online, downloading a movie, or streaming audio. Unless they are an incredibly nosy ISP and are bandwidth ****'s then I doubt they would get into anything like that.

It's basicaly the same as having a PC online playing a game. What do you mean by special connection?

You also said that you have to set it up with your ISP before you can log on. How can your ISP do that? How can they block access to a public game network and make you pay? I'm sure that if Sony or the game companies got wind that ISP's were blocking access to their networks there would be some problems.

If your ISP makes you pay for something like that, it's not Sony's fault it's the ISP. If my ISP (Time Warner/Road Runner) did that, they'd be history and I'd make sure everyone I knew knew about it as well.

Lets not forget that the Xbox is the superior machine. When it comes to hardware, the Xbox is the mark of excellence. Better video processor, faster CPU, a big **** hard drive, built in ethernet, a superior DVD drive (which should speak to the patrons of this site), and in my opinion, better analog devices on the contollers.

the trick is to get a roughter that can handle the xbox or ps2. and you have to open a spical port too. but if it was your olny thing hooked right up to the modem with comcast they would have to have a sertan #off the ethernet card in the gameing consol.

Never mind I was reading about Comcast and X-Box live. They may charge you up to 6.95 extra a month for it. Seems like a ripoff to me.

Comcast does not charge you for using ps2 High Speed internet gaming.

How many times are u going to go over this????
    PS2
Do the research - it is all a pissing contest!!!
    Ford, Chevy or Dodge.
Once again PlayStation has ALWAYS been ahead of the "game".
PS2 has sold over twice the units than XBox and Gamecube combined!!!!!!!!!! Food for thought.
And it doesn't matter if one has a bit more power than the other because the games/software and game developers are only at a "certain level". Most of the software is being shared anyway.
When you list the pros and cons - PS2 wins hands down.
Just my Opinion though - cheers:D

PS3 is due out in 2005. Most likely it'll be 2006.

I'm with scottvamp on this one. Side by side the PS2 wins.

Ok if it were the better system then you would buy it. It CAN'T be the better system if you wouldn't buy it, because of course you would want to buy the better system. ;)

The xbox has a little bit better hardware, but that is the ONLY thing that is better than the PS2. Generaly speaking, the PS2 blows the Xbox away.

LOL! I dont need either, I just have opinions, Ive played the xbox and the gamecube, the graphics of the PS2 make just skip over it. I got a computer - why do i need a game console? lol -- to add to the Xbox....all those games our coming out via PC - Im waiting for that.
