Throwback Pepsi & Mountain Dew

Anyone else tried the Pepsi and Mountain Dew "Throwback"? It's made with real sugar rather than HFCS. The wife and I just tried both and did a little at home side-by-side blind taste test. It was ridiculously obvious which is which. The Throwback tastes so much better than the regular junk. I actually forgot what the two used to taste like. It is just soooo much cleaner tasting, and actually refreshing. You can even see the difference in them.

Unfortunately, like all good things, this is only temporary. I sure hope it's successful enough that they decide to keep it.

FYI. At out local store we could only find it in the plastic bottles. Supposedly it's also available in cans. Which I would imagine tastes even better. Too bad they didn't offer it in the old glass tall-boys.

Ben, have you treid Sun-Drop. I grew up on it in TN but it is not available in Texas. I have found it in IA, cmy should try it to if he can find it.

Sun Drop I was told at one time had as much caffiene as 12 cups of coffee. I think it was back in the 50/60s.

I'm definately going to try the Throwback. I hope they figure out something for Dr. Pepper...it just doesn't have the "Pep" it used to.

Sun-Drop is the Nectar of the Gods.... The original factory is about 30 miles from here. We get it fresh as a daisy. The best is in the glass bottles from an ice-chest.

In fact, I'll get one from the cooler that I have in my kitchen.

I'll be keeping my eye out for this. I've probably never even had "real" Pepsi or Mountain Dew.

There's a Mexican grocery store near me that sells real Coke...I've had that before, but I've always preferred Pepsi. I need to get some of this.

Ok...So I Googled Sun Drop and as soon as I saw the label I remembered it. As I recall it was kind of like a mix between Mello Yello and 7up but with kick. I'll have to do some looking around for it. I'm sure I can probably find it somewhere nearby.

    Thanks for the reminder!!!

Coke, where the second(third?) ingredient is SUGAR, Not HFCS. Much better taste. IMO

DO you live near Tullahoma TN? That is where it is made near my hometown Winchester.

You can actually order it on-line but shipping kills.

PepsiCo, the makers of Mountain Dew soda, says it has reached out to a dentist working to save children's teeth in eastern Kentucky, after ABC News reports on the problem of tooth decay, or "Mountain Dew mouth," in the region.
Dr. Edwin Smith explains the damage the beverage can cause.

Dr. Edwin Smith, a dentist in Barbourville, Ky., invested $150,000 of his own money to build a mobile dental clinic, Kids First Dental Care, inside an 18-wheel truck.
In a statement, PepsiCo said that its vice president of global health policy had reached out to Smith to learn more about his clinic after Smith's appearance on "Good Morning America" today.
"They also discussed how we might support his efforts to educate people in Appalachia about proper dental care and help them lead healthier lifestyles," the statement said.

A typical ingredient in craft sodas is cane sugar, just like the old days. The big bottlers pulled it out cause cane sugar is more expensive and variable in pricing. Over the past few years there's been a bit of a resurgence of craft sodas and those regional brands that we all thought went extinct. Maybe the big boys are tying to get into the act, like brewers try to (not well, IMHO) for good beer.

While this is true, if you drank as much as these kids were drinking all day, every day, any type of sugary soft drink would do this. I think some of them were drinking over 10 Mountain Dews a day! Combine that with overall bad dental hygiene and you get rotting teeth.

All that to say, I love me some Dublin Dr. Pepper!

This is humor. I do not support giving our kids lots of any sugar products.

I dont drink soda anymore with HFCS, you can get soda (Coke Pepsi) imported from Mexico made with sugar and Jones cola is made from real sugar and tastes much better. Everyone should boycott that crap with hfcs so they will start putting real sugar in it again.
