Why they OVER-price all the speakers and amps? do they think we are deep-pocket?

Allow me...it's the year his doctor recommends that he is safe to roam the Internet forum and socialize with others. :D

It was a mean joke but I sincerely don't mean to offend you, Wow! :)

I'm quite sure english is a second or third language for wow but being awful at a language still does not explain ignorance, or assuming others are ignorant as well.

I think he's just a guy that happened to find the forum while looking up the price for the speakers he is trying to hock out of the back of his van. I wish we could have the ability to ban someone from this site indefinitely. Most of us are here to learn more about our hobby and share trade secrets but a select few idiots...ranting.

You should learn gooder engrish WoW and start actively participating in a thoughtful manner for any of us to take you seriously. Not that I expect you to understand what I just said.

Quadzilla hit the nail on the head. For the rest of us that dont want to pay market price...

    1. you either get a job at an audio store, which for people like us, would lead to excessive spending no matter the price......trust me i did this when i was younger.

    2. spend all waking hours looking for the best deals on the internet....this is what i do now

    3. stand back and watch, at the same time complaining about how expensive this hobby is.

    sorry for the rant

I try to upgrade my system. As I do my research, i found that all the big-name speaker and amps are over-priced.

I've been kicked back monitoring this thread, just to see what the responses would be. Woweu, I think your statement above is reflective of your values. That is not meant to be a slam, but the compliment of being a savvy buyer. If I am interpreting what you are saying correct, then it falls along the lines of "If I sit back and wait, I can catch the item on sale ... therefore, it must have been over priced to begin with."

Heck, I watch for sales all of the time. Sometimes, I wait a long time. Others here correctly state the mfgr or retailer has a right to make a profit. I agree. Whether or not the mfgr or retailer is making a profit on the particular sale I am engaged in is not my concern. I'm buying becasue A) I was in the buy mode and 2) the price of the particular item met my values of what I am willing to pay for it.

Most electronics have a very high initial depreciation rate. My last year model's AVR bought brand new a few months ago for more than half off the list price sounds just as good as it did a year ago at list price. It's no different than buying a car. The biggest depriciation hit is the moment you drive it off the lot. A difference though, IMHO, is that used good audio equipment will then continue to depreciate much more slowly.

When I bought my MC352 amp several years back I paid $3800 for it. When I traded it in the 501's, my dealer gave me $3500 credit. I only lost $300 over 2.5 years. That type of depreciation I can live with.

Plus it does not get exposed to road salt or ocean spray and turn to rust.

Would you buy used cables at the new price? They don't experience road or sea salt. They also do not degrade very quickly and its hard to abuse them. ;)

Since you can't tell the difference between two TOTALLY different speakers you must have a tin ear...so whatever speaker you own simply does not matter.

Buy the cheapest speakers and the cheapest gear you can find.

My question is why all the under priced speakers and gear with tinsel wires to connect it all? Do they all think we are deaf:confused:
Please. Please contact me a ben62670 @ yahoo.com. Make sure to include who you are, and you are from Polk so I don't delete your email. Also I am now physically unable to work on any projects. If you need help let these guys know. There are many people who will help if you let them know where you are.
    Thanks
