Hi Guys,
Im new to the site, but i would like your thoughts on upgrading to B&W,
I currently have a B&K REF 70, with a B&K 200.7 AMP, and have a second AMP on the way (for future Bi-Amping), i was looking at replacing my RTi 10's with
B&W 803's for the fronts.
Any & all thoughts appreciated

Have you heard the B&W's yet?

IMO, they're not for everyone. You can usually do better for that kind of money.

I have actually, had opportunity to listen to the full line of B&W's 800 series, and some of the 700's, the 803's were, dynamic & transparent, & the bass was tight, clean & quick, with good quality, midrange had good coloration, and vocals sounded pure, open, & independent.
you sound knowledgeable, can you please suggest the "better" for that money?

    Thanks in advance

In that price range, I'd check out Focal/JM Labs.

I have to completely agree here. I heard some of the Focal Utopia series more than once...and that's where I would go for music, especially...if I had the cash.....incredible in their price range!

Will you have an opportunity to listen to the 800 series with your B&K setup? I personally like the sound of the 800 series, but it can be a bit "bright" for some people.

Depending on the dealers in your area, you have several options available at the same level.

Although I like the sound of the 800's, there are other speakers at the same price points. Focal, Dali, Elac, Vienna Acoustics, Sonus Faber all offer speakers within that range, and each provide a unique sound that might compliment your current electronics.

I personally dislike B&W's with a passion. I have never heard one that didn't give me a headache due to the metal tweeters.

Take a listen to Dynaudio's Focus series. I loved their 220 floorstanders.

Same hear Cathy. They are not a musical speaker IMO and I have heard many, including those hooked up to tube amps that would take 4 grown men to lift in an acoustically well done room. Just not my cup of tea at all.

All above speakers bring magic. I personally have a love hate relationship with B&W. At times they are the best speakers on the market, then fall on there face. Tuff speaker to get right.
