Receiver Help?

Hi,

I have received as a gift, the Polk RM 6750 surround speaker system. I know they are very entry level, but am deciding to keep them for my place. I live in a one bedroom condo so I assume they should be fine. I would like to buy a receiver but do not want to spend more than 200 - 300 canadian dollars.

Could someone recommend a good receiver in that price range? I do not mind if it is used either.

Thanks,

John

John, welcome to the forum. A sure bet for what you are looking for can be found in the Marketplace here on Club Polk. I just bought one there for a friend of mine for $100USD. Be sure to read all of the pages as there are many things for sale and what you are looking for may be back on page 8 or 10. Good luck in searching.

    Hi,

Treitz3 is right. You could also look for an entry level Onkyo 505/6, could maybe find that on sale for near your price? Plenty of power for that Polk system.

I'm using a Yamaha RX-V663, which falls in that price range on sale. A nice AVR with tons of features to tweak with. There's a thread devoted to it over in the AVR forum. It is last year's model now and many e-tailers have been aggresively pricing to get them cleared out. Highly recommended.

Canuck audio mart is another place to look...

http://www.canuckaudiomart.com/ if you even remotely think you may upgrade at any point, look for on that packs as many features as possible, such as Pre-outs, which are used for adding external amplification and HDMI. I know the Yamaha RX-v861 is available in the used catagory with those features and close to that in price.
