PS3 vs. Oppo 980H for SACD

I just purchased a Pioneer Elite SC-05 and have a PS3. I'm currently playing SACDs using my PS3 (which converts the DSD to PCM and outputs it to my receiver), but I want to have my receiver decode the DSD instead.

I'm just curious if anyone here has compared the SACD playback using the PS3 to the SACD playback using the Oppo's DSD output via HDMI?

If so, what have you noticed as the difference? I'm considering picking up an Oppo just for being able to output DSD via HDMI to let my receiver decode it as I absolutely LOVE the sound of the SC-05, but I want to make sure it is the right decision.

Any help would be much appreciated.

(Note that I realize that I'm basically asking if the PS3 or my SC-05 has the better DSD decoder, so feel free to answer that question if you have an informed opinion as well)

I bet it's the same exact one in all 3.

I have the Ps3, Sc-07 and a Pioneer Elite dv58av. I stream SACD over HDMI on both the Ps3 and dv58av. I get no sonic difference at all. I sat and listened and a few times I thought the Pioneer dv58av sounded better but when I went back to the Ps3 , I couldn't tell any improvements. Every time I heard something I thought I didn't hear with the Ps3, I heard it once I swapped back.

Buy the Oppo and report back. I'm interested in it's performance. I'm waiting on the Oppo 83 blu ray player which does everything. I wanna give that a run.
