Just heard it on NPR, he will be replaced with possibly Cris Collinsworth, that dude who looks like he is constantly stoned.

I must say about time. I will miss him, but am I the only one who noticed he's been slipping? Sad to say but I think the age thing has caught up to him in the broadcasting booth. Probably those long train trips and traveling taking a toll.

Been seeing it this last year or two, with last year being *very* rough.

Yeah, he "retired" when he wanted to get away from Pat Summerall too.

He's the only announcer I could stand to listen to for a whole game. He'll be missed.

I go way back here. John drove me nuts until he won his first Superbowl, I was an Oakland Raiders fan as a kid, every year in the playoffs, each year a loss until Ken Stabler! It was a love/hate relationship...but when 'coherent' he knows what he's talking about!

Thank god he'll be gone. All he did was point out the most obvious points and seemed to offer very little insight.

He was a good coach for the Raiders. I could never stand him as an announcer. He has gotten much worse in the last few years IMO.

Always been a John Madden Fan. I agree he has slipped a bit in the booth.I still pass around my copy of his book, to friends wives that want to learn more about the game.

He was forced out. They were tired of his bus causing delays.;)
