Bad or good idea, President can turn the internet off at will.

If he was really all about national security, seems to me you would secure your borders first.
You got something against CANADIANS???????????????"The legitimate powers of government extend to such acts only as are injurious to others. But it does me no injury for my neighbour to say there are twenty gods, or no god. It neither picks my pocket nor breaks my leg." --Thomas Jefferson -
I don't see how that'd be possible while still maintaining communications between all the assorted Govt. & Military branches, it would have to be a VERY SELECTIVE "KILL SWITCH" ! :)
The original intent of the DarpaNet was a collaboration between the DoD and the nerds and weirdbeards of M.I.T., Berkeley, Stanford, et. al to provide a backbone of communication in case of worst-case scenario. That was the Internet. I'd be very surprised if that's not totally intact and in an off-quarantine mode.
The Internet of today is just the cake and ice cream that followed.
If somehow the Conficker worm morphed into some unstoppable code next month, you know who's vulnerable and who this bill is designed for? Not Polk Forum. Not you clowns.
Defense contractors, whose networks are pure Windows Server based and full of yayhoos who are brilliant engineers in their own field, but don't like patching, upgrading their Windows 2000 desktop, or still resent having to upgrade to XP.
if you think that some future Conficker raping all the design work that Boeing, Northrup-Grumman, Electric Boat, the Pentagon etc, etc, etc. have online is a good thing, just keep bleating.
Here's a final thought: of the very best coders out there, some work for the NSA trying to prevent scenarios, and some work for the criminals who would pay very big bucks for that kind of data.
None of them give 2 **** in a biscuit about your Internet or your freedom of speech. -

Sure .... that's just what THEY want you to think.
As far as Obama being responsible for this "new" intrusion on our privacy, well .... :rolleyes:Sal Palooza -
But, if they are magic tin foil hats I may twist them into braids and use em' as interconnects!! Do you happen to know the tin foils purity??;)

The Obama Deception
Just curious if anyone had watched this video yet.
I have just listened to part of a speech by JKF to the American Newspaper Publishers Association...There is little value in ensuring the survival of our nation, if our traditions do not survive with it. And there is very grave danger, that an announced need for increased security, will be seized upon by those anxious to expand its meaning to the very limits of official censorship and concealment...
...we are opposed around the world by a monolithic and ruthless conspiracy that relies primarily on covet means for expanding its sphere of influence, on infiltration instead of invasion, on subversions instead of elections, on intimidation instead of free choice, on guerrillas by night instead of armies by day. It is a system which has conscripted vast human and material resources into the building of a tightly knit, highly efficient machine that combines military diplomatic intelligence economic scientific and political operations. Its preparations are concealed, not published. It mistakes are buried, not headlined. Its dissenters are silenced, not praised. No expenditure is questioned, no rumor is printed, no secret is revealed...
FYI - People who watch suggest you don't ever get caught in any civil unrest movements. Everything is in place to detain you indefinitely without any rights. All truth passes through three stages. First, it is ridiculed, second it is violently opposed and third, it is accepted as self evident. -

I'm quite familiar with Alex Jones. He's a blatant conspiracy theorist of the worst kind who's long been discredited since the days of Waco and Koresh. Before that actually. You'll notice the only positive 'professional' review for this documentary is available online from the site infowars -- a site in which Alex Jones owns. How convenient. Instead of staring at the screen nodding up and down like a sheep, do some research on EVERYONE who appeared in his film to give their opinion -- a few examples -- a rapper that goes by the name of KRS-One. You might remember him from his 9/11 comments when he said "we cheered when it happened." Joe Rogan -- a comedian who's known in the industry for his plagarism. Webster Tarpley also shows up to lend his expertise. He's a disscredited economist that's about as anti-free market as you can get. He's also a spokesman for loony conspiracy groups like the Anti-Imperialist Group and 9/11 Truth Movement. Or how about "investigative reporter" Daniel Estulin who actually has personal and professional ties with Alex Jones for years -- yet the film makes the guy out to be some independent professional at the top of his field. Complete and utter **** and a total conflict of interest as depicted in the film. Estulin was kicked out of Russia back in the Soviet Union days because the KGB thought he was a loon. If you don't know anything about him he's the nut who claims the government was trying to assassinate Ron Paul and that JFK was murdered by the banking committees -- and thus was our last "official" president. WTF?!?
I've seen this film. While it makes SOME valid points in the overall generic hiearchy, they're few and far between. By in large this flick is nothing more than one big anti-capitalistic, "new world order" conspiracy theory by Alex Jones and adopted by idiots like Glenn Beck designed to scare people too lazy to think for themselves into a five-star batshit circus tent. But I actually encourage others to see it as well -- if only for the popcorn entertainment it provides. Other than that, it's pure unadulterated rubbish. And no amount of creepy background music, quick editing, slick references to the Third Reich, or multiple desperate attempts to hide the fact that all your so called "experts" all suffer from mental illness changes that.
Now that that's out of the way, maybe we can get back to talking about audio. Why the sudden concern? The Patriot Act isn't exactly breaking news. -
And quite frankly, as a relatively new guy, I must tell you that if I was an employee of Polk Audio, a company with a Board of Directors, I'd be embarrassed by some of the nonsensical off-the-wall socio/economic/political quarterback rantings that come out of these discussion forums. If I was a prospective buyer perusing the company website and found myself tripping over some of these forum topics, truth be told I'd probably take my business somewhere else. Some of these Clubhouse topics have nothing to do with Polk as a company, and they have nothing to do with the products the company sells. If you want to talk politics go to HuffPo or Newsbusters. If you want to carve out your own little niche in the conspiracy theory world, go pay Alex Jones a visit. Seriously guys, this is **** embarrassing. Some of us would actually like to talk about audio around here.

It sounds like JFK was speaking about what his party has become... I wonder what, if any, bearing such statements had upon his demise, and if his own party played a role in it...:(The Gear... and then Upon signing the amendment, Roosevelt made his famous remark; "I think this would be a good time for a beer."

It's here. It will stay. No matter what THEY say.

When I see, read, and hear about politics, I'm always reminded of that great WHO song, "Won't Get Fooled Again", new boss, same as the old boss. Since we're in a mood,
"the more things change (remember that phrase), the more they stay the same".This is a bad idea promoted by smart men who want to rule the world. -

no paranoia here... just look at what is happening and it all becomes crystal clear.
