No one's made mention of Elvis. Love him or not, he is "The King". ;)

I was just spinning some old Elvis records yesterday. Great stuff in my opinion. :o

Great singer IMHO, with that said the only thing i did not like about him is most if not all his hit songs he did not write. PRODUCT!!

A lot of interesting suggestions above. Some I wouldn't have even thought of....I have to respect personal choices, and music that changed people's lives (perhaps that's not the criteria--but it's fun, in any case). And I suspect that is the case for everyone who's participated in this thread.

    Keep 'em coming..

And a thanks is in order...to all.

"I Shave My ****" by the Buzz Kings. I don't know what the music sounds like, but the cover art is definitely monumental and earth shattering. :D

Hendrix I liked good enough to go and see once. It's not him, and I guess I accept your most humble apologies.

    Gee thanks..........I think.

That album stayed on repeat during my college years at ANY party. Great call.
I never had it like this where I grew up. But I send my kids here because the fact is you go to one of the best schools in the country: Rushmore. Now, for some of you it doesn't matter. You were born rich and you're going to stay rich. But here's my advice to the rest of you: Take dead aim on the rich boys. Get them in the crosshairs and take them down. Just remember, they can buy anything but they can't buy backbone. Don't let them forget it. Thank you.Herman Blume - Rushmore

it's not earth shattering, but the "Elvis, aloha from hawaii " dvd sounds pretty good for it's age

I'm not going to throw out 3, there's just to many over the years that fit this scheme. Having said that I agree with many presented. The Beatles (any album) in a league of their own. But the Beatles were influenced by many artists of that time. Anyhow, for me,
Fifth Dimension by the Byrds. The electric 12 string solo on "Eight Miles High" by McGuinn, well just go listen. A folk rock group gets it on.

Since the original topic was also "earth-shattering CD release", I'd also mention the Elvis "24 Karat Hits" compilation. This Steve Hoffman-remastered CD really opened up the sonics of Elvis recordings. I don't know if the later DSD-remastered CDs can improve upon this compilation though.
