Name one to three monumental, earth shattering album/CD releases

Goal is simple.

Name one or two releases which when they came out were monumental, historic, earth shakers. Not just "that's a good album" but something that hit the market and was not only a great recording, but threw a new flavor or interpretation out that rocked (as in shook, not rock-n-roll'd) the world (or at least the USA)

Something to maybe make some other person go back and re-play that thing they forgot about.

The reason to limit it to three is to make people think, and not regurgitate a litany of items.

I'm throw three out there, though the second one is probably so popular it's not going to make anyone go back and give it a listen.

1 - Paul Simon: Graceland
2 - Pink Floyd: Dark Side of The Moon
3 - Charles Mingus: Mingus Ah Um

Oh, you hate your job? Why didn't you say so? There's a support
group for that. It's called EVERYBODY, and they meet at the bar.

Agree 100% I'm a BIG Kansas fan. They brought a totally different sound to rock.

    I'd add to that:

    RUSH 2112
    Peter Frampton Frampton Comes Alive!
    Zepplin 4

KANSAS is really a "b" side band. Forget the stuff that got regular radio play, listen to the rest of their albums---that's where the real GEMS are.

Not Bobs album but when Eric C released I shot the Sheriff in 1974 that song had a very positive effect for generating interest in reggae in the US

Had the pleasure of seeing him 3 times in concert........

My guess for the Bob album though there were a few at that time would be "Natty Dread"

I happened to think Bostons' debut album was pretty damn good back then... and still is.

I still remember listening to Smokin' in the car, volume knob all the way to the right, at least for the intro (yes, they actually stopped when you maxed them out ;))
So, are you willing to put forth a little effort or are you happy sitting in your skeptical poo pile?

-Black Sabbath : "Master of Reality".
'Sweet Leaf', 'Solitude', 'Into the Void', 'Lord of this World' .... WHEW !

Metal, from uber melancholy to ultra driving, kick arse, drive your amp to
clipping and blow the fudge out of your drivers if need be, but krank it
up the way God wants you to. Ozzy and Tony established the way it
    should be done.

    -Metallica : "Metallica"
'Enter Sandman', 'Sad but True', 'Nothing Else Matters', 'TheUnforgiven' ..
    ....... 'nuff said.

    - Queen : "A Night at the Opera"
    'Bohemian Rhapsody".

If there were no other tune on this album, this song would enough.
Gargantuan song ..... surpasses even "Stairway to Heaven" IMO.

Dire Straits - Brothers in Arms

Digital recording released just in time to bolster the emerging CD format. Doesn't hurt that "Money For Nothing" was a #1 single accompanied by a then-groundbreaking computer generated video.
