psw125 not turning on?

I searched on this forum and didnt come up with the answer to my problem..so heres whats going on.
I just recently purchased a complete 5.1 surround. Polk tsi 400's 100's, cs10 and a psw125 sub. I am powering everything With a denon avr-988.
I hooked everything up this past weekend and all was well....until today.

My sub isnt turning on. The red light on the back stays red regardless of what position it is turned to, and so my receiver will not detect it (obviously)
I checked the fuse its fine....so now what?
I purchased the sub new/refurbished from polk direct.

Hello and welcome to Club Polk. I'm not familiar with your sub so bear with me. You might want to check and see that there isn't a default setting [or another setting] you or someone else may have done that would prevent a signal coming from the receiver. Also, how do you have it hooked up? LFE, line level or speaker level?

I had everything hooked up on Sunday. It was working fine. Turned on etc. Today i turned it on and had no bass.
I ran through the reciever to make sure the LFE was turned on and it is.
So im thinking something may have failed in the power supply on the sub?

I would contact customer support or see if Eric chimes in on this post, if you bought from Polk Direct, then was there a warranty with it? If there was, then you should be all set with a return or a replacement. I had a similar problem with my 125 when I first got it too, but I would mess with the switch in the back and it would come on. I usually leave it in the "Auto" position and I haven't had a problem with it since.

I had my switch in the "on" position as of Sunday, and switched it to "off" when everything else was turned off. Today, i switched it to "on" and the red light goes from bright red in the "off" position, to dim red in the "on" position.
I purchased this sub about 1.5mths ago, and i think there is a 90day warranty from polk.
I guess ill give them a call tommorrow and see what happens.

I recieved an email back from Polk, and was instucted to unplug the sub and let it sit for a while (i did that last night so i was ahead already!) So i plugged it back in this afternoon and now it turns on.....but the LFE plug isnt producing sound. I hooked the sub up via channel 6 on the reciever to the "speaker in" plug on the sub and have sound that way. So now i dont know whether or not the LFE port on the sub is bad or if the LFE port on the reciever isnt producing sound.
Is there another way to check that?

Hello,
Here's a fool proof way to test to see if the sub-woofer is the cause:
1). turn the volume all of the way down on the sub-woofer and remove all of the connecting cables/wires except the AC power cord.
2). find the right and left RCA cables that go from your DVD player to the receiver and remove them at the back of the receiver.
3). bring the DVD player over to the sub-woofer and provide AC power for the DVD player, then connect the right and left RCA cables from the DVD player to the corresponding right and left inputs on the sub-woofer.
4). begin playing any CD (not a DVD, but a CD) and turn the volume up slightly on the sub-woofer. There should be plenty of clean sounding bass with no bad noises. Let the CD play completely through and try stopping and starting the player.

This is kind of funny, but i dont own a DVD player, just blu-ray (2 ps3's) which hook up through HDMI.
But if the RCA input on the sub works, will that mean that the LFE works as well. Can one work but not the other?

Do you not have the old school RGA (red, yellow, white) cables that came with the PS3? Those should work if you change your settings around to match....am I correct Ken?

Ill have to see if i still have the rca's for the PS3. IF not ill borrow a friends DVD player tommorrow and report back.

I tried the test with the CD that Kenneth suggested and I got nothing.

Does this mean my new sub is a dud??

I could not get anything as well when I was connected to the Denon AVR 989 receiver either

You may have another issue. Have you checked the fuse?

Thanks Polk Customer Service

Spoke to customer service who referred me too the Canadian Service manager where I got a prompt response that they would send me a new replacement PSW 125 if needed.

But first I took the sub back to Future Shop as it was only a few weeks old. Future Shop replaced the sub and I am happy to say that I have a working sub with no need to take Polk up on it's offer to replace my sub.
