Tampa area??

It looks like my family and I am moving to Tampa area this summer. I was told that North Tampa area is the best place to live in? Id like to live in a 3 br apartment or house near beach / good shopping center in good community area and id like to know if anyone here live in tampa have any suggestion. Please do suggest!

North, West and East are good area's. You sure you can handle no snow? 70 degree weather in the winter?

Great, more Polkies around here is the last thing we need.


There are Plenty of Good spots to Live around here and plenty of not so Good Spots. Tampa Palms is the newest (not so new) nice place with tons of shopping etc... Its Considered North Tampa. Im in Carrollwood which is pretty much smack in the middle of Tampa.

is a buyers market for housing down here. Good Luck

Palm Harbor is nice. I wouldnt say the same about Temple Terrace and the cops there are A$$e$

forget cops since i was planning growing some pot plants for curt, hes paying me RTI A series (7.1 channel and another 5.1 setup (LSI25) in my living room & bedroom!! lol:p

Where is your job and how far of a drive are you willing to and from. Sure we can come up with some nice areas

job is between city and airport??, i havent got more info but i know its in tampa. i dont mind 20/30 mins drive or little more if there any good school for my kid.

I'd look into Brandon, Fishawk, New Tampa/Tampa Palms, Carrolwood and Even Wesley Chapel. Roy lives over in Westchase somewhere (He hasnt invited me to demo his SDA's) which is a nice area as well. I would suggest Drew Park but your married :eek::eek::eek:


Edit Hyde Park is a nice area too but its pricey IMO

My son is only 5 so dont know much about that. i can only advise on schools NOT to goto.

I would shy away from Carrolwood. My brothers lived there. It is changing quickly in Tampa. I suggest renting for a while before you buy.

Actually, My family will stay at vacation hotel with kitchen by beach for 2 months til we actually find place to rent for a year, i dont know if i want to buy a house in tampa. its more likely we will be moving to St. Augustine area to enroll my son to Florida School for the Deaf when hes ready to go to school. hes only 16 mos old now.

Its my daughter education i am thinking of as for this fall. Probably will stay in Tampa area 2-3 years?

I still buy in Tampa, and here's why prices are low and rates are low. Buy now and ride up then in 2 - 3 years you're not priced out of the market. Just my $.02

But still setting in and check out area first.

I would still buy also. Get involved with the locals to find out a good school. St. Augustine is very nice. When you are ready to move your property should have gone up in value. I can't see it going any lower. Buy low sell high. Also be real careful of housing prices that are way low. Visit the neighborhood a few times after dark before making a final decision;)

I live in Carrolwood. Its not so bad. There are TONS of areas around here where its nice on one side of the road and not so nice on the other. Carrolwood is no West Tampa where i grew up. Trust Me!

Friend's daughter has hearing problem (deaf but hearing aids help at little). There is a school in Lutz which is at the top of Tampa.

Maybe it was just their area, but the schools weren't so good, and it was going downhill fairly fast. Where they lived was actually very nice, and affordable.

is lutz area good? my daughter is fully hearing so place her at any good school is not a problem.

is your daughter going to same class with deaf students at mainstream school?



ben, if market is good to buy house, ill give it a thought and rent it to people when i move to st augustine. Hotel for 2 months sounds good plan to look around before wife and i make major decision.
