Just picked up an AVR-146 from hk to power basement ceiling speakers. I have no sound! Driving me up the wall lol. let me go over the basics.

I have power
I have mute off
I tested the speakers and all work
I used a surround mode and stereo
I plugged in an ipod and tried the am radio

I did not hookup all 5 speakers at once. Could this be a reason?

Is there a way i could check and see if i am geting voltage out of the speaker jacks do they make such a tool?

As boring as it sounds - have you gone through the set-up procedures as outlined in the owners manual? With some gear you have to set output parameters for one or all inputs. Just a thought.
    Good luck, Phil

During one speaker at a time shouldn't be a problem. What's your set up? 5.1?

A multimeter should work for checking the amp output voltage. if you have power there, then time to check the wiring continuity.

Also a "dumb wiring error" check: Are the paired wires for each speaker terminating as a electrical pair (e.g. the positive for one speaker not being mated with the negative for another speaker)? 'just thought I'd ask....

It started working then it didnt, then it stopped working then it worked. I sent it back to HK, hopefully they have a quick turn around.
