Subwoofer making a weird sound

I have a Polk psw 650 and all of the sudden it just started making a weird noise. It will power on fine, but then for the first bass signal it will make a sound like, well the best way I can descibe it is the sound speakers make when you mix the polarity of the wires. I didnt change anything and it just started doing that during a movie and now it does it all the time. Any ideas what it is and how to fix it?

    You might want to check connections and try a different sub cable, if no progress there and ff you are sure no one changed anything while you were not looking, give Polk CS a call. It sounds like you need them more than anything I can offer.
