I'm new on Club Polk. I'm in process of ordering some polk speakers from Frye's Electronics online. Anybody got much experience from them. Are they reputable. Does anyone know if I buy new speakers from them, do I get Polks warranty with the speakers. Are their speakers all new? Thanks anyone.

Frys is an authorized dealer, so the warranty should be in full effect. They have several stores throughout the country, and are a reputable company overall.

Although this is all true, be advised that they are, IMHO, the Wal-Mart of electronics stores, and it's not a nice place to be ... in fact, I prefer Wal-Mart (at least the stores that I know of). Even the ill-fated Circuit City felt almost luxurious and prestigious in comparison (here in the Los Angeles area, at least). The staff look as though they are fed on stale bread and water rations and are locked up in some foul dungeon at night, with the same pair of clothes to wear, night and day, for a month. The gear is thrown about with casual disregard for its integrity and well-being.

I have only been there a few times, for very specific items. I have never dealt with them as an internet retailer, nor have I appealed to their better nature in the form of a return, warranty claim or customer service request.

You can probably get some great deals if you know what you are doing and don't have to interact more than is strictly necessary. YMMV.

I ordered my first ever Polk speakers the R50s from Frys. Also ordered a 42" LCD, RTi8s from them too with no problems. Their shipping is fast and reliable

I have also dealt with purchasing Polk Speakers from Fry's and Having Them Shipped To Me(Just a week ago).
Everything Went as Smooth as Glass.I would not hesitate to do business with them again, after my first experience with them.

They are however a company that does a good amount of business,so it is possible that there will be a problem that arises every now and then.
But,I am impressed with them,to this point.

Hey thanks for all the input everyone. I talked to Frys direct this AM, and they told me that I do get the Polk warranty, and the speakers are new, so I guess I will be continuing on with an order. It's not like I'm mortgaging the house or anything. Thanks all.
    Just starting my system.

Funny you should say that. IIRC, Fry's started out as a grocery store with a small electronics section. The geeks in silicon valley decided they liked the electronics more and made it into the large chain electronics retailer it is today. (At least that was the story around silicon valley in the mid nineties.)

So the mix of products may seem pretty strange from an electronics retailer but not so strange if you consider their history.

Maybe it's just the northern california frys, but around here, there just isn't a more popular and convenient big box electronics place to shop. Since most of us make our living in some sort of electronics industry anyways, we don't need staff to tell us everything we need. And the selection and variety of products is very good. And at sale prices (especially the multipage Friday adverts every week) they are about the cheapest retailer around even up against Walmart. But with much higher quality products. (Just try getting Polk speakers at Walmart or Target.) I don't really deal with their online that much as they basically have the same deals in-store (even in-store pick-up for online purchases). But their brick and mortar stores have a very liberal return policy and are definitely not out to cheat anyone. They are as reputable as a big box retailer can be.

I have shopped there for a very long time and have never experienced anything remotely close to what you describe. You sure yoy aren't thinking of SILO stores? Fry's rocks compared to BB and the other big box stores... The only big box retailer that was ever any good was the GOOD GUYS and sadly they are gone now as well...

Northern California... mmm... I used to go to two Fry's places in San Jose for a long time, amazing stores and great service there. Also visited Fry's in San Diego - it was all right... and Fry's in southern Houston (Webster) is also pretty good (go there every time when I am in Houston).

It's too bad the Fry's you have near you sucks, the one near me is really nice. It's the CC's around here I couldn't stand, and am glad that they're gone. Now, I won't say they have the top experts in audio or video, but they have about the largest selection of EVERYTHING you could imagine in electronics without getting into super high end. Hell, the Fry's near me is about 2 times the size of the largest wallmart I've ever seen, is very clean, and everyone there is friendly with no pressure salesmen (hated that about CC). I've brought my friends there to shop, and even my girlfriend's 68 year old father when I was able to convince him he needed flat panel tv's lol and everyone has been very happy. I agree with Kex however in that you should be educated on your purchase before going there.

i bought almost everything from Fry's in Fremont, CA.

My TV, receiver, speakers, DVD player, PS3, blu-ray movies, DVDs.

    Fry's is amazing.

Lowest price and best customer service.

If you have any problem or complain, you can even just write a letter to their president, Randy Frys, he is a nice guy. You can get a full refund even for a opened and used printer, or dvd movie, or anything.

i do not like Best buy, they will charge you 10% or more restocking fee. that's sucks.

    Fry's is the best.

they sell polk audio R300 for only $99 per pair, and R50 for only $119 per pair. Only thing bad, is that they never sell high end Polk audio for cheap price. lol

    WOW

Unless you count the factory reconditioned lsi7s they had for $250 a pair back when the line was new. I did a double take on those at the store. Boxes of lsi7s for cheap. And when you opened them up, they looked factory new. Not a blemish on them. Too bad I was only in the market for 2. Haven't seen a good deal like that since, tho...
