It could be argued, but only by people who don't have the capability for rational thought.

perhaps for you we should suspend the constitution and assume everybody is a criminal. I personally feel it is a violation of my rights to be compelled to wear a seat belt while driving, especially when in my state a motorcyclist is NOT required to wear a helmet or any other kind of safety equipment...

I agree 100%. But you not wearing your seat belt cannot affect me. Some old lady driving under the influence can affect me.

1st offense... install the device. second offense... loose license. third offense... loose freedom. Just dont tell me, a non drinker to start with, that I must submit to a breathalyzer being installed in my car because it makes you feel better. We need to STOP thinking of new ways to surrender our liberties to a Soviet style authoritarian state and START finding ways to take back what has already been take away from us... Thomas Jefferson is spinning in his grave.

FOr me? Dude I was arguing for your side. As in only someone who didn't really think about it could suggest that putting such a device in every car was a good idea.

But as I understand it, she DIDN'T hit anyone, so, like I said it's a victimless crime and rest my case. Chris

Wow. You truly exhibit STAGGERING levels of ignorance. I'm gonna guess you're... 19? 20?
If you will it, dude, it is no dream.

any time. I joined the Marines to protect our liberties and freedom from socialists/communists. now we have exactly what tens of thousands of our most valued citizens died to prevent in the first place. I am against ANYTHING or ANYONE that feels we would all be better off with the government telling us when and where we can take a dump:eek:

What is concerning to me is that she is an RN who cares for children. It is scarry to think that she could be under the influence while working.

This is a person who could indeed have some personal problems.

    Pray.

I agree that she needs help with her addiction no doubt but 30 days jail time is very very lenient and gives her a little time to dry out and think about the seriousness of her actions. After she gets out then a minimum of 6 months in a alcohol rehab is in order and a minimum of 10 years without driving. I think all three are important. If she received no jail time and only a fine then why not do it again?

Up here the 3rd offense would be a felony and an automatic 1 year minimum in jail and probablly permanant loss of license and I think a minimum $15,000 or $25,000 fine

Well, I just pulled off the impossible by doing a double-blind comparison all by myself, purely by virtue of the fact that I completely and stupidly forgot what I did last. I guess that getting old does have its advantages after all :D

Imagine having to tell a parent their child is gone, or there is nothing more you can do to ease their pain. perhaps having to call the folks at CPS because you know a child has been viciously abused... I will not defend her actions, but with her backround as an RN, I can possibly understand why a bottle could become a best friend. She needs help and support and she also needs to be kept off the road until she gets it....

Having drunks and potheads driving is pretty damn bad no matter how you look at it. Add into the mix all the people who drive like idiots and its a cluster F
In general when people are driving they only have themselves on there mind and could not care to yield or show any courtesy.
I'll take a plane over a auto any day :)
