If this applies to you please read, if not please ignore and keep your comments to yourself.

CALM THE FREAK DOWN ! You know who you are !

I am a newbie here with 6 months under my belt but with all the stuff I am seeing of late I am embarrassed to post anything. This is a great place to hang out and learn but some of you are ruining it.

PLEASE, learn some manners and learn to shine on people who disagree with you.

If someone rubs you the wrong way, smile and keep moving.

If this offends you then good, maybe it will give you cause and pause to think about the image you are leaving behind with your post.

It may not matter to you but it does to some of us. If someone tries to bait you be smarter than them and take the high road, their ignorance will come out sooner or later.

And please, I do not need anyone to agree or disagree with me so it is my hopes there will not be a single response to this message but I doubt it.

Have a great time here but don’t ruin it for the rest of us that like this place.

Have a great weekend, have fun and be safe. Enjoy some music, friends and family.;)

I think what a lot of newbs don't get is this forum is like a family. You don't just walk into a family and act like you grew up with them. When I joined in 06 I think I pissed most members off. Take your time, talk audio, grow some thicker skin, and enjoy/contribute. It takes longer to get respect back, and some will never like you.

Edit: Don't be a fanboy of gear you never heard, or dis gear you never heard. I did that too based on what others have said:o
Please. Please contact me a ben62670 @ yahoo.com. Make sure to include who you are, and you are from Polk so I don't delete your email. Also I am now physically unable to work on any projects. If you need help let these guys know. There are many people who will help if you let them know where you are.
    Thanks
    Ben

But how can you not be a fanboy of equipment that you plan to buy (and probably have never heard)? AKA if I wasn't such a fanboy of the SDA SRS 2 that I plan to get (and which I have never heard), then I wouldn't drive 750 miles and (probably) pay for almost $90 in gas.

Love that book. I used to be a big ****. After reading that book (highly recommended by one of my best buddies), I'm sort of an ****. Halfway between **** and ****. The tint, maybe?

How much time does one have to put in here on Club Polk before he or she is not considered a newbie?

    Just curious..

It's like the workplace. If you walk in on the first day and think you know everything and are smarter than everyone else in the company then....
Think of the time when you met your wife's father for the first time. You get my drift.

Oh I certainly do enjoy it here, maybe a little too much (says the fiancee ).
I've met some great people, and I have also learned quite a bit so far in the year (almost) that I have been here.
Before I joined Club Polk, I was using my TV's speakers. After spending time here learning (which I have much more to do), I now feel that I have put together a great sounding system, well at least I personally think so.

    Legitimate question.

One way (there is no "Only" way) is to be around long enough to recognize when someone posts something tongue-in-cheek and not go hyper.

For example: "Bob Carver is a rube".

Hmmmm........I'm going to guess if you let "them" decide if it applies to them then this will be completely ignored.

Another Southern Hemispherical thread I predict.

Why all the energy in posting this thread? Smile and keep moving. The guy's that have been here for some time will fillter the crap them selfs, and see who is truely here for the right reasons. It also won't take them long to see who has grown in this hobby.

Nobody here needs a father figure, the newbies you are talking about won't be here very long anyway's, they will be called out sooner or later and walk away with their tail between their legs.

    Most excellent point, Lasareath.

Let folks get to know a little about your views/opinions/gear on here, and make it to a Polkfest when you can . Put some faces with the names, and figure out who's hand you'd want to shake, who's back you'd want to pat, and who's face you'd want to punch.

    And vice versa.
If you (generic) suck twice as much there as you do here, than it'll be a loooooong self-imposed probation.

P.S. Face punching is not allowed or condoned on Polk property or Polk sponsored events.

P.P.S. If the previous was news to you, you're still a newbie. ;)

I myself haven't been to a Polkfest yet. After I have, and the bullet wounds heal, than I figure on moving out of the Newbie category.

BTW, when that happens, I have it on good authority that the concept of Prima Nocturna will go into effect, so ......

P.S. the previous was ..... well, you know the routine. If not, you're still a
    newbie.

In the meantime, have some fun, enjoy some music !! It's ALL good !!!

notice the thread was not started by ME!!!

If the people throwing all this crap my way did some looking and actually read the thread they would see for themselves that this is all a bunch of crap and a huge mis-understanding that is not of my own design or intent...
