I will make sure I will turn it OFF and speaker cables removed before measuring it. I am curious what could happen if the amp is ON and speaker cables removed, then measure it.

I am logging OFF now and be back later this evening... Thanks, all.

Thanks Haimoc for checking. Can't say how serious I am but I am floating the idea around.

Probably not serious if I need the AI-1 interconnect but I will check my serial numbers and see if they fall in to "can be done catagory".

Do you have a multimeter? Just check resistance between the two negative binding posts. If it reads 0 (or very few decimals) it's common ground.

I have just measured the resistance, and It read 0 between the two negative binding posts.

Aside from the issue of not turning on a tube amp with out a load connected....A multimeter measures resistance by using a small current. If there is already voltage/current in the circuit that you are measuring, the results will be invalid/skewed, if you get anything at all.
The only time you measure with power on is when measuring voltage or current.

The amp and tubes are packaged with extra damping and ready to go when the fund is cleared.

All items shown in the first pictures (the amps, 2 sets (8) of EL34 tubes, 2 sets (8) of driver tubes, and a power cord are packaged into one Plinius box.

Tell me about it! This is going to mate up with a Dodd pre that I just bought from all212 (who bought it from DKG999) which will be driving a pair of LSI9s in my office rig. Can't wait to hear it!

It's all your fault, Ted! :D

You'd be happy with this amp, Blake. I can't afford to keep it. Try to get some fund for a turntable. I bought this amp from Russman with one set of tubes with higher price tag. I bought second tube sets for backup (want to keep it for long), but this is time to let someone else to enjoy it.

That is going to be one sweet office rig, the Dodd gear is some high value to cost gear. I have heard some of Gary's amps and cannot imagine your not liking this a great deal given by Haimoc in the spirit of a FM deal not seen recently.

Thanks for nice comment. I was thinking to keep the amp and build another small system, but I think it is better to buy a turntable for a current system instead...

I do appreciate haimoc's pricing. If I ever decide to sell the amp, it goes up in the CP FM first at a reasonable price.

I received the unit yesterday and it was packed extremely well! Had a small problem with a cold solder joint dislodging during shipping (not due to packing) and Haimoc immediately offered to refund my money which I think is first class. I managed to fix the problem myself so there was no need to take him up on his offer and the unit is now outputting beautiful tunes as part of my office rig.

I wouldn't hesitate to deal with Haimoc again! Thanks. :D

Thanks, Blake, for your good input/comment. I am sorry again for a small problem in transit, and I am happy that it is resolved. I am glad that you like the amp.

I ran this amp with Dodd Reference tube preamp (that I sold shortly before selling this amp), and it was a great combo; however, ProAC speakers need more power for lower bass... Selling them and intend get fund for a different TUBE preamp (BAT VK-30/VK-P3) with phono, a solid state amp (Plinius P8) and a low-cost turntable. Now, I am ready to search for a turntable... :)

Honestly, now with new SS amp, I gain more bass and detail, but there is no way it can be compared with the sweetness and beautiful mid-range sound from EL34 tubes on the Dodd amp... Guitar and vocal are just beautiful with EL34s.... I am sure I will come back to EL34 in the future.

We all seem to participate in that eternal cycle of selling old gear to get new gear! I recently bought RT1's BAT amps and a BAT solid state preamp after selling off most of my older equipment to another CP member. Enjoy your new purchases!

And the cool thing, as his brother...............I have first dibs on ALL of it when he decides to sell
    WOO HOO :D.

I'm coming around Ted...........but I have to say I am enjoying my 2ch rig like never before and it's going to be awhile before I start experimenting with tubes.

The little hybrid tube amp I'm running in the office rig has me excited about tubes and I'm already rolling some different tubes and have my eye on some others. The little amp with it's SS output and tube buffer input sounds incredible with my 5B's. It responds very well to tube rolling and proper cables.

Here's wha I've found so far:

    Chinese stock tubes suck
Russian 1980's tube sound very good, nice bass
Siemens German tubes from the 70's are outstanding in the mids and vocals with a HUGE soundstage
I have a pair of 70's German issue R-F-T's on the way
I am bidding on a pair of 1962 GE tubes made in Great Britian at the Blackburn plant, these are identical to Mullards according to the production code.
