Like I said. Paypal sucks. It's of no value to me and I don't use it.

BTW...You sound like a paypal commercial....

Here's another one. I use PayPal EXCLUSIVELY to process 100% of my credit card transactions for my Timex distributorship and have sent and mostly received about $3M in sales in that time period with losses of exactly $0. Yes, that is ZERO $.

For most of that time, I was in another business with a partner where we did about $100K in that time period and here we used a standard merchant account. We paid more per transaction, and our LOSSES approached $1,500.

As a seller it is great....

    As a buyer it sucks....

Why do you feel that as a buyer it sucks?

I have no issues using PayPal and when I did have a problem, it was resolved within 24 hours.
CTC BBQ Amplifier, Sonic Frontiers Line3 Pre-Amplifier and Wadia 581 SACD player. Speakers? Always changing but for now, Mission Argonauts I picked up for $50 bucks, mint.

It offers little or no protection for the buyer. The seller gets immediate credit and as some have pointed out it's pretty tough to get your money back in a bad deal. Secondly, I do not want any 3rd party other than the seller to have constant access to my checking account or CC.

This is the number 1 reason why I'm not interested in Pay Pal.

To be safe, never buy anything from Ricardo and you will be fine.;):D

The FM is all about trust. Buyer beware! Use your common sense. There are people here that I would give the shirt off my back, or take payment in any form or provide payment of the seller's choice. It's a great Forum. I'm not in favor of making a bunch of new rules.

I don't understand how using a personal check is any better?
What protections does a bank offer? Can you even get your money back?
Doesn't the seller that might rip you off now have your name, home address, Bank routing #, checking account #, and signature?

I don't understand why the seller getting immediate credit is any different (fraudwise) then the seller getting credit 10 days later?

As a non business seller how would you know when a check is good? The only way I know is to deposit it. And guess what happens if its a bad check? That's right you get charged about a $30 fee by your bank.
I don't know-I just think personal checks are a big risk

Madden, Carl said it all. There are some whom I would accecpt PC's from without a 2nd thought & vice versa. It's all about common sense and trust.

People really can't change who they are, and that comes through even online. The manner in which they conduct themselves on here tells me whether or not they are someone I want to do business with.

Only the ones who I consider to be trustworthy will I consider buying from, and then I check with someone else whom I trust implicitly on here to make doubly sure.

There are those who I go to when I need serious audio advice from & know that I won't be steered in the wrong direction.

If I'm looking to buy something audio related, I look HERE first. If no one has what I'm looking for that I TRUST then I buy it new.

This is a great forum with a great flea market, that works just fine 99.9% of the time. No need to reinvent the wheel.

Well, just FYI, it doesn't always go as smoothly as all of you seem to be suggesting. For example, I've been know to offer cows, slavery, vestal virgins (I think those work best with trainee terrorists), and eunuchs as payment ... right here on our trusty CP Flea Market. Would you believe that all of my generous methods of payment were bluntly refused, and they demanded cash money instead ?!
    Alea jacta est!
