Welcome aboard, falcon337. As george said, perhaps a little high but it does seem the 1C's, 2.3TL, and 1.2TL's have been creeping up lately. Probably worth it if minty, maybe one owner, and a local buyer. A little bit cheaper would be great and he would probably take less. CL advertised price usually leaves some bargaining power.

Hi folks, I called the seller, and he said he needs to sell one of the items listed this weekend. He also has a Jolida JD-100 mint condition for $550.00 on CL. He said he needs $500.00 cash right away and will sell either the Polks or the Jolida for $500.00... But only by this weekend... Then he wont be so needy for cash.
Sounds like a good deal for someone who lives close enough to make the drive, He said he lives N.E. of Pittsburgh. I would love to get them myself but am low on cash..
    Regards,
    Falcon

The price is the price...$500 local is a good deal for 1Cs that don't need rehab. What you have to pay for something else with comensurate(sp?) performance.

I paid $400 for mine (original owner, black studio) 18 months ago and drove 700 miles round trip to get them. I still say $500 is a good deal assuming they are really as nice as the pictures would indicate. There is absolutely nothing close value-wise at your local retailer that will sound as good as these do. I have no doubt a $350 - $400 pair will pop up eventually but if you have to drive a couple hundred miles, replace a driver or two, repair some grill cloth or fix some wood damage you're back to $500+.

    Hello to all,
My name is Mike and I am the guy selling the SDA-1C on Pittsburgh's cl,
I was directed here from a phone call I received from one of your members.
As for the price, I think it is very fair, However as I am in sudden need of cash I will let them go for a little less. I am the original owner, they are very near mint, and if you don't mind a little stain, or maybe dirt on the grill cloth, then they are mint, original, never molested.. Up until I moved into this smaller house I had the original box's, But I figured whats the use in them taking up space since I will never sell them anyway.., Well, Now I am forced to sale some of my collection..
After reading through some of this forum, I may just keep them and do the upgrades just to see how they sound. I have other things I can sale to raise the needed cash.
Anyhow these are in perfect condition, as far as the drivers and cabinets go, they do not even have marks on the bottom oak from being hit with a vacuum cleaner, the side cloth has no snags, there are no watermarks or anything. That is what I describe as mint..
Anyhow after hearing of this forum I thought I would just jump in to introduce myself, and voice my opinion.
Thank you all for having me here, I love the forum and only wish I knew of it sooner.
    Kindest Regards,
    Mike

I still think about those 2.3TLs that I looked at for you. I could have packed and shipped those to you and saved you the trip. However, I was afraid that I'd bring them home, try them, then not be able to part with them :p.

Welcome Mike. Those 1C's do look in very good condition. That model is considered one of the best SDA's. Probably the best for a mid sized room. If you can keep them, you could update the xovers and try the new silk tweeters. Big step change.

Thanks for the welcome Ricardo, I have a Jolida cd player listed for sale also, and if I sale the jolida first I will keep the Polks and do the upgrade. I figured I would list a couple things and when one sales and I get the cash I need, I will then keep the other one. I have a couple people interested in both items, but I hope to sale the Jolida first.

The upgraded tweeters seem like a worthwhile investment, and then I will do the xovers as budget allows.

The price is only to high if you can't afford it.. There has not been a pair of these for sale in the Pitt area for a long, long time. And mine are worth every penny of $600.00.. If someone is in the market for these, and nearby they can inspect them and see for their selves just how nice these are.
With the exception of the grill cloth there is not a mark on them... All original, never modded, and includes a couple extra drivers, 1, sl2000.
    and 1 mw6510.
So it is worth it for someone who wants to own a pair of minty original legendary speakers.
    Regards,
    Mike

We see so many CL and Fleabay listings on here which is great. It is however especially nice when a seller joins the Forum as a result of the process. You get a little more info on the speakers (or whatever) plus you get a new member. Nice. Welcome aboard Mike.

Thanks Marty, and George I am honored to be here. I have been browsing around the site for several hours today, There is a lot of knowledge here, also some crazy people to..
I am probably somewhere in the middle of the two groups..
I have someone coming over to look at the Jolida CD player I have advertised, so if it sell's I will be keeping the Polk's. I will probably due the upgraded RDO tweeters first.
I hope they will sound as good as some of the folks on here say they will, It will be like getting a new pair of SDA's.. I love getting new thing's.
