I have to agree with you. What is 'he' thinking, and what time capsule is he living in? In this economy who's going to pay big bucks to see him perform?

If I were him I'd stay away from the U.S. market and tour the Pacific rim where faded pop stars seem to have some staying star power for whatever reasons.

I think he will do fine in Europe and in Asia. In the US, maybe....I'd see him since I've never seen him live. But that's just me.

despite the accusations of him dinking young boys.. lets keep this thread on topic.

here is what one article said about MJ.. and it's just a brief part of the entire article.. but it says it all.

The statement said: "Michael Jackson has not played a series of concerts since he last toured 12 years ago.

Jackson said: "I am coming to London to play the songs my fans want to hear."
The star last performed in 2006, at the World Music Awards, also in London.
But he disappointed fans at that event by singing just a few lines of We Are The World. He last toured 12 years ago.

C'mon MJ this is not 1982 where you were the bomb... you are washed up.. and people will only see your concerts for the freak show aspect. Plus he probably needs the $$ now too.

I have a friend out here in Japan that brought him through Tokyo for like 3-4 days. Japanese were paying 70-90K a ticket just to have lunch with this guy. Needless to say my friend made out very well over the promo.

He is still immensely popular around the world. People are quite eager to overlook an entertainer's faults, no matter how grevious, if the provided entertainment value is high enough.

MJ is typical of any six year old with legal adult status and with millions of dollars and who is surrounded by legions of "yes men" and "yes women" whose salaries are paid by him.

Like many child stars, MJ's emotional development came to an abrupt halt when he was pushed into the entertainment business at the tender age of six. The appropriate social skills and mental safeguards against bizarre, aberrant behavior that most of us develop through normal interaction with peers and authority figures was denied him while growing up.

Therefore, what seems crazy to us seems perfectly normal to him. Think back, if you can, to who you were when you were six. Now think of how you would have turned out had you had all the rights and privileges of an adult and the money to do pretty much whatever you wanted.

The saddest thing about all this is that he does not have even one person close to him that is genuinely interested in him as a person and in his welfare and happiness. It's not that such people don't exist, it's just that he pushes them away whenever they try to talk some sense into his head. Sort of like the kid who hates the strict, yet caring, parent and who adores and clings to the permissive, yet irresponsible, parent.

The ironic thing is that, minus all the bizarre behavior and hideous plastic surgery, he would be a revered, respected, handsome, and wealthy 50 year old with many more positive artistic contributions yet to come.
