I bought one about 6-7 years ago for some absurdly low price off craigslist. $130 if I recall. Was nearly perfect. Some wannabe DJ needed to pay the rent. I sold it after I picked up my VPI, but I really wish I would have held onto it. I have an SL-1300 on the computer rig, but it is not nearly as nice as the 1200. Hindsight...

Any idea what a perfect condition, home used, albeit 25 yo unit might go for on EBay? I will not respond to any requests about buying the unit. I respect rules

$400-500 for stock MK2s seems to be the going rate on Craigs List. It being in perfect condition it would probably go for closer to the $500 range. I'm not sure what they are going for on E-Bay though. I'd get on there and find out.

Billbillw, was there a easily discernible sound-quality difference between the 1300 and the 1200mk2, or are you referring to build quality?

I didn't have them at the same time, but I'm sure the 1200 sounded better. Build quality there is no question the 1200 is better. The 1200 has a much heavier damped platter and plinth, the tonearm is more precise and has height adjustment. Also the automatic features of the 1300 tend to drag it down. Overall, the 1300 isn't really much better than the average Technics auto-table. The 1200 is special though.

Didn't know the 1300 had no height adjustment. Thought they were similar except for auto features which I've heard usually break and therefore are removed. Good to know, thanks.
