I can't speak for any women.. but there are a few women on this forum that are hardcore music and movie lovers, and their systems are nothing to sneeze at .. even some that like to play video games.
all kidding aside... I think of it this way. as you said you spent some decent $$ on putting together a good sounding home theater for you AND your wife to enjoy.. she may not understand all that is involved in setting up and using a home theater to it's fullest.. but in the long run, it will bring you and your wife years of enjoyment. Especially when watching blu ray movies and any DVD movie in general, a home theater is so much more thrilling than listening to a movie with the built in TV speakers.
I look as my home theater as sounding better than some of the movie theaters you go to at the movie plex. How many people walk out of a movie theater because it was too loud? Very few... reason is.. the increased volume gets the viewer more involved in the movie watching experience.PolkFest 2012, who's going>?

I totally agree with you Db. With movies or music I want to feel it not just hear it. The arguments I have with my wife at times is she thinks as long as the sound is turned up to the level of hearing it then it is good enough. Even when I was setting up the PSW111 she was sitting in the chair and I was pumping in some serious watts into my system to get things hooked up properly. Let's just say she wasn't happy.
However in the end I love watching movies at home now with the speakers. I know this is the sub woofer section but my next task is to consider rears. I just don' know if I want to do the wiring myself. Are there any good wireless options for the rears? I never had any luck with wireless speakers. I keep getting some sort of interference that ruins the experience.
